Samsung YP-U1Q 2GB MP3 Player - Black

2 Gigabyte, not 1 Gigabyte - £79.99 including delivery @ Amazon

Nice looking player. Ive seen the 1GB versions in Dixons and they look really well made. Proper metal bits I think, not silver plastic. Just wish it had an FM tuner as well. Must only cost them a couple of quid to add the feature so why don't they.

Features:
2GB, 1000 song capacity
MP3/WMA/WAV/Ogg compatible
4 Line White back-lit LCD display
15Hrs(Li-ion) battery life
USB 2.0 with USB charging
Voice Recording
SRS WOW audio
WMA DRM compatible

Bear in mind though that the Rio Carbon is refurbished & the Emprex is not a well known brand (not as well known as Samsung). Also, both of these use microdrive (spinning 1" disc) and not flash memory so you probably could not jog with either of them.

The real beauty of the Samsung is that it's a smaller unit and thus easier to put in your pocket if you're out jogging or at the gym.

There are older Samsung Yepp models of similar dimensions with integrated FM radio, but only 1GB memory and no rechargeable battery.

I guess the million dollar question is how does this compare to the Ipod Nano? Could this be a Nano killer?

You'd be better off comparing this to an iPod Shuffle rather than the Nano.
BTW looking at the Samsung site this item does not appear to come with a mains adapter. It charges through the USB port in 2.5 hours and gives up to 13 hours battery life.

Decent battery life, but a bit of a shame as mains charging would be very useful, especially when on the road.

    Thanks anyway.

However Nano is with 2GB, like this one, that's why I was comparing to the Nano.
