"Sold as seen" up to them to check the car out.

    Tell them tough.

I have spent a lot more on crock and wouldn't have the nexk to go back to the seller.
  • It may be now but why was it ok when they collected it. If there was any problem it should have been mentioned when viewing, if they knew nothing about cars then they should have brought someone who did. Very much "let the buyer beware" as trading standards would tell them. Its only £400.00 just what did they expect?

I would just politely email them back, and point out that the car was in good condition when they viewed it, and they also drove it 200 miles, so any damage must have been caused by them, as they have had the vehicle 5 days now.

Also politely point out that as it was a private sale, it was sold as seen, so no refunds, and that they had ample opportunity to check the car before buying.

I mean, what were they expecting??? A brand new rolls royce with 1000 miles on the clock for £400??
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

It was a private sale, tell them to go forth and multiply...

When they say the car was a wreck what do they mean? Did it have a new MOT but is actually an MOT failure. If so they can report the garage that did the MOT to VOSA.

Providing you did not make any misleading statements on the ad about the car they have no comeback on you.

I sold a car on ebay and listed all the faults honestly and still had people queuing up to buy it.

My friend's son was going to buy a VW van from ebay and it was totally mis-described. Luckily his father is a car mechanic and checked it out first and he didn't even think it was road worthy.

Got a email today saying we lied on the listing

This is the only bit you need to care about. What are they saying you lied about?

What exactly did the listing say in respect of whatever they are claiming is not true?

I would always urge people not to disclose their ids on here, it can be very problematic.
