Vista or XP?

having used pretty much every operating system going (bar anything from apple since i don't have a mac
) i have to say i ultimately find myself always coming back to vista. 0 -
I've been using Vista for around two months now since buying a new laptop, I much prefer XP
Why do you prefer it? If it's because of 'look and feel' you can do a lot to change Vista to appear like XP (for example, I have changed my Start menu to the classic XP appearance rather than the new style).
To correct my above post the 'Windows 7 upgrade program' does not start until July 2009:

You may not want to wait that long of course, wo if you eventually want to move to 7 you would have to buy a retail upgrade package.0 -

Added addition drives I have a bunch to format and clear before destroying them.0 -
I've had no issues with Vista. My suggestion and/or advice is my own and it is up to you if you follow it, please check the advice given before acting on it.0

I've been running Vista for two years, not one crash yet. It takes about 10 minutes to get used to the different interface as it's not really that different to XP. You do find a few other thigns that are different as you use it but nothing major.
I certainly wouldn't buy an XP machine now.
I am looking forward to Windows 7 though and will probably be getting a new machine running that next year. It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0 -
I have both. Ive found Vista ok once ~
UAC is switched off
Auto defrag is switched off
The size of the 'shadow service' is lowered
Windows defender is disabled/uninstalled
Its fitted with codecs to actually VIEW media files (A lot dont work in its 'out of the box' state)
(Ps ~ I dont recommend ANY of the above unless you know what your doing
) :idea:0 -
I have 2 computers, one with Vista the other with XP, I use the one with XP as my favourite.0

XP is not as secure as Windows Vista, even moreso if you use Internet Explorer.
As regards to save-a-lots comments, has he tried to see if there are updates to the drivers and software that he alledges won't work?Bielzibub0 -
Vista was pre loaded on my recent laptop. The first thing I did was to change the desktop theme to "Windows Classic". Once I did this there was little difference between XP and Vista.
Personally I would recommend Vista over XP.
