Virgin media TV, broadband and phone XL package for £38 per month

Am trying to haggle down the cost of TV and broadband, came across this offer seems quite good.
XL broadband - 20 Mb, with free modem & wireless router
XL TV - around 165 channels including Sky 1, 2, 3, Disney channel and Setanta sports. Think this includes standard V box but instalation is £30.
XL phone - unlimited UK landline calls (need to pay the line rental £11).
All for £38/month for first 6 months, up to £45 after that.

You can also get a V+ HD box subscription free. Instalation is on offer at £99 (normally £150). Buy online and you get a further £50 off making this £49.
Plus go through greasypalm for a further £32.50 cashback.

Terms & cond say new and existing customers. Scrole down on link.
"Offer: Available to new customers or existing customers taking an additional cable service (subject to status and credit checks). You must take all services included in this package for at least 12 months. If you change any part of this package, standard prices apply. Not to be used in conjunction with any other offer."

Would appreciate some comments!!:D

i would argue with them more, i have both the Broad band and tv stated for £36.50 if i took the phone they were offering me is for £41 so you could probably get it for about £40 for the whole 12 months. If you sign up for online billing you save £1 a month.
would love to win an ipad!

Could you please link to where it says new and existing customers as I have this package and am paying £56 per month for it, and was told this was the best they could do the last time I called them.

    Cheers!

I currently have the XL TV with sky sports, sky movies 7 setanta, we have 2 boxes though, 1 upstairs and a V+ box downstairs, the medium internet connection (10mb) and the lowest telephone package. I pay £74 per month.
Was a good deal when I got it (was paying Sky £90 for less), but I also want to try and haggle to cut costs.

Is there any package reference or anything also, where did you see the deal?

    Hi
That's my new tariff from November 2008.Previous 12 months paid £30 pm.Both for existing customers.I phone haggled.

If you are happy using Greasypalm for much lower amounts of cashback then it's your choice.I would recommend Topcashback& Cashbackkings as my favourites. Some will price match another cashback site.

They don't even charge a fee(see Terms) and will usually pay twice the cashback amounts than alot of other cashback site.Quidco offer £80,but as they are in my bad books at the moment I wouldn't recommend them .Hope they improve.
I have seen in the past that some have shown £100 to sign up to Virgin Media.Current offer is around £65 but does change.

The price via the cashback site at the time of your order will be the one you pay.So no going to haggle on the phone as you won't get the cashback. So do your sums.Read the cashback site terms and remember cashback is not guaranteed to pay out.

Make sure you clear your cookies especially as you may have already gone onto VM to check prices

    Hope this helps.

Thanks for the replies, comments are very useful. Have added the link now, scrole down on this for terms and conditions.
Have rang sky to haggle yesterday and they told me they couldn't offer a better deal and that I should go to Virgin. Also sky broadband not available on my postcode so that didn't help.
Will check out other cashback sites, thanks first isayoldchap :T

I believe the standard price is £45 + £11 (line rental) which is £56
  • Isn't this the normal package price anyway?

I signed up several months ago and am paying £45+£11 which is exactly what this deal reverts to after 6 months? (and mine was discounted to begin with also).

    Whats actually changed?

I've got 2mb broadband, XL TV and landline phone for £30. I'm not supposed to have the XL tv at all! I don't know why i've got it but im happy. I'm really annoyed with my broadband speed as i do think they should upgrade me to at least 4mb. has anyone else got my package but with better broadband speed?
  • I'm on 2mb BB, Basic TV, Unlimited (free) 24/7 UK landline - all for £19-95 month. took some haggling with retentions though! That's the all inclusive price - no additional £11 line rental.
