I think someone brought up the gross indecency thing with Ramsey in an interview and he explained it as weeing where they shouldn't have been whilst drunk. Full story here:

Bit cheeky of him to be all over the supplements with pics of his kids then be having an affair, though.
I agree the food at Harvester and Henry's Table type pubs is over-priced. If I want microwaved, boil in the bag food I go to Weatherspoons - quite nice and cheap. Also Sainsbury's - 2 meals for £5 at the moment and pretty nice stuff too. I have eaten in expensive-ish restaurants and cheap ones, and mostly find that the price difference is not justified.
Back on topic, I predict the closing of many restaurants and hotels as people stay home, business lunching is cut right back, and folk stop having mini-breaks. Conversely, Subway, McD's etc. will do okay as they are a way of having a cheap treat. I also forsee lots of '2 courses for £5' type offers at restaurants as they try to get people in.0 -
10 %
Tight Wad !!!! :rotfl:
Depends on service. Most London restaurants add whatever they add as a standard and we pay that. I am always there in a group.
In the USA we would often leave 25% equivilent in the cheaper places but 15% in Disney (the accepted amount when we went a few years ago now).
I actually, for the first time in years, left no tip at the end of our meal this weekend. Mind you the server did trip over whilst behind me and tip a whole jug of water over me and ice down my back! I left the place freezing cold. Quite amusing for everyone else.0 -
I'm not arguing with that. I am saying the difference is not a tenner. The difference is three times (and probably more with drink).
Possibly you're right, even probably.
My earlier point is that British people seem to like to eat badly. That Harvester can exist at all seems to confirm this.0 -

I think for my 13th birthday it would have been a special treat to get a chicken curry and chips from the chip shop!
I've never been part of anybody celebrating a wedding so that's all an alien world to me too. For my 40th, I didn't do anything (but then I didn't on my 18th or 21st or 30th either, I expect my 50th to be the same).
My last birthday was a £10 curry, eaten in an indian though, not a takeaway as it was a treat.
Some people live in a different world don't they :P
Yes, they do. He is a lovely boy and cooked christmas dinner for the family this year (he is 15 now). To him it was a mini dream (would have been more so if JO had been there but he wasn't - is he ever?).0 -

Speaking of fish and chips, where can I get a decent one in London?
I've been to a few places (local place, Brighton Pier, Greenwich) and they were all pretty awful. My gf now complains about how bad the fish and chips are in England! Help me convince her otherwise...
Ahh for a grilled Barra 'n chips.0 -

Harvester and other similar pub chains have appalling food - I felt ripped off paying £5 for it in a deal once.Happy chappy0
