Virgin Media cost really high

hi,

I live in a shared house and the internet is arranged through one of my house mates who paid to have a line put in with Virgin Media. She has mentioned that the bills for the internet are really high - she mentioned £47 a few days ago. I give her £3 a month for the internet which Ive always thought was not enough to cover it but that was what she insisted it was - but then says dont worry about it.

She hasnt attempted to address it as she has been very busy so I thought I would have a nosey around.

Is there any reason why it should be so high? there are 3 of us on it, we dont do that much downloading (normal websites i.e not music/films etc).

Any advice would be welcomed.

Maybe it includes phone and tv? or mobile?

yes she has a phone line installed too but she said something about the two being separate presumably she is billed separately or it appears separate on the bill.

Thats surprising that it is seperate they usually sell them as one package

Is it Cable or ADSL broadband?

Just looked on the VM website and seems she is paying over the odds - http://allyours.virginmedia.com/html/bundles/index.html

Though really to find out what is really going on you need to look at the bill and see what exactly is being charged for

Its wireless broadband.

She just tends not to challange things and she is a bit spikey about stuff do with money.

lol yes it certainly seems to be so!! I think when she says its separate she means that on the bill it shows a total relating to each area ie internet, phone.

She has said something about download totals ... I can't remember the figure but it sounded really high considering we're not really music/movie downloaders. I'm concerned as I am online a lot of the time .... like just leaving the web on the background while im doing something else etc. I think Im addicted to being on MSE too so i'm concerned theyre working it out wrong or that its me!

Just ask to see the bill. You'll find out where the money is going then.
