Hi
Mobile contract is running out within the next few days. I've been looking around for the best deal, and it seems I can get one of the best deals by staying with 3.
Now to be honest, even with all the scare stories, I've had no real gripes with 3, so am fine staying with them. I want to keep my number (it's a good memorable one) so will be getting my PAC soon.....
aaaaaaanyway...... the best deal I have found is 12mo 1/2 price line rental- how do I stay with 3, keep the same number and get this good deal?? Do I cancel this contract, ask for a PAC, and go off and sign up to the new contract with my PAC? Does this work? is there any way I could get away with this, or will I have to trabsfer to PAYG for a bit and then get a new contract???
Hope it makes sense, cos I've noticed I'm rambling
Cheers

As far as I know you can't keep the same number if you start a new contract with the same company straight away. Unless you transfer it to a payg something like o2 then move it after to 3 maybe, I think that works.Thanx

You cant port 3 to 3, you'l have to port to a pay as you go sim, then back to 3. This is what I have done.0

how long do ya have to port away for?? This 12mo half price is only available till the end of feb.....0

does anyone know what three are like when you ring up to cancel? do they just let you go without much of a fight, or can they offer you some good deals?0
-
They were awkward when I rang to cancel and I still don't know if it's actually going to be disconnected on 24th feb which is when the contract ends. They tried to push new deals but they were rubbish, you will most likely get a better deal by starting a new one. I had to ring a number of times, its the indian call center and its very frustrating, not thier fault but they just arent trained correctly
I'm still looking for a new contract one with quite high minutes and textThanx

I think your supposed to give them 30 days notice aswell so will you let me know what they say to you when you ring up as it sounds like your contract is due to end in a few days but they might keep it connected if you havent cancelled intimeThanx

There is a great misconception that you can not transfer your existing mobile number within the same network, hence in this case 3 to 3. No, you don't have to be a pain and port it from pay monthly to payasugo to pay monthly. I found out the long way.
The stupid people in customer services have no clue as a majority of them are part timers. Just ask that you would like to 'MIGRATE' not transfer your number to another sim. You should have your PAC number and sim number to be transferred ready. If they say they cant' just say you just phoned someone in your company just before and it they will just put it through. It works!
Besides why do you want to open another account? Just phone up and ask for a upgrade with a better deal. Say that you will take the business to some other network if they don't!Motto: 'If you don't ask, you don't get!!'
Remember to say thank you to people who help you out!
Also, thank you to people who help me out.0 -
if i upgrade my contract, I can get 3 mo 1/2 price line rental and a shiny new phone, whereas if i get a new contract, I can get the same shiny new phone, 7mo free line rental, and £45 instant cashback......
So in theory I can migrate my number to a new sim..... have you done this before? (has anyone else done it successfully?) Sounds like exactly what I need, and get myself a wodge of notes in my back pocket to boot......that makes me happy0 -
If you were to take an upgrade with 3 directly, then yes, they will migrate you without a problem, alowing you to keep your number. But the deal may not be as good as it would be if you started afresh with a dealer.
However, if you decide to upgrade with The Acme Phone Company, and on the same network this will not be easy to do. First you will have to get the PAC from your existing service provider and port the number onto another network for a period. Then you can port it back. Porting means that you move the number from one network to another.
The Acme Phone Company will get a commission from the network for signing you up with a new number, and part of that commission may be paid back to you in the form of a cashback offer. The Acme Phone Co may still get its commission if at the point of ordering you tell the dealer that you want to use a ported number.0
