Am I being messed about?

On Jan 8th I won a pair of shoes for £15. I paid instantly by paypal. On the sellers ad it did say allow up to 10 working days for delivery, which i did, but they didn't arrive. On the 10th working day I got a phonecall from the seller saying that she had posted them but they had just arrived back to her, saying return to sender on the box. We checked my address which was correct. She then said she would re-post them by recorded delivery (it was normal post 1st time) and as soon as she had posted them would send me the tracking number. She promised to post them either the next day or the day after which would have been Tuesday or Wednesday of last week.
I never got any tracking number and didn't hear anything so yesterday I sent her a message thru ebay asking for the tracking number as i was concerned that they still hadn' turned up. I didn't suggest that she hadn't sent them or anything, and kept the message polite. That was over 24 hours ago and I still haven't heard from her. Because of this I am now beginning to wonder if the whole story about the parcel being returned to her wasn't true. It was a coincidence that she got them back on the 10th working day, just the day when I would start to question the delivery. Unyet she seemed so nice and helpful on the phone and has 100% positive feedback so now i don't know what to do. I'd rather just get the shoes than go down the route of chargebacks and negative feedback (mine is 100% and don't really want to risk that) but if she's not going to send them or communicate at all then what choice do i have? It's been over 3 weeks so I'm losing patience now. Any ideas?

Well if you've still got her phone number i suggest you phone her up and see whats going on. keep it polite, im sure you will anyway. Does sound strange though? "return to sender on the box" not sure who would have written that. Did you get them cheap? Would see have wanted a lot more for them? keep an eye on her to make sure she doesnt refund you and relist them to get a higher price.Come to my garden in South Bucks and i'll find you a wasp...0

I think it sounds like you are getting messed about here!
What is the sellers feedback like?
Maybe give her another couple of days to respond, or send her another email and say that if you have not received anything within 'x' amount of time you are going to inform ebay and paypal of non disconforming seller or whatever it is they call it!

It does indeed sound as though you are being messed about - except what the seller says has happened to her has also happened to me. I think that if she had the decency to ring you up about it she is straight.
What may have happened (It has happened to me a few times) is that the royal mail have tried to deliver the thing while you have been out/did not answer the door, and has taken it back to the sorting office without bothering to send one of those cards through the door. As you did not come to collect the package it was returned to the sender.
Another reason is that the royal mail deliver the package to the sender's address instead of the addressee's. (Oh, they do. They do.)Small change can often be found under seat cushions.

hi all, thanks for your comments! Exactly 5 minutes after i started this thread i got a message from her apologising for not sending them again and letting me know that they have been posted today and she supplied me with the tracking number. She mentioned family problems as the reason for not sending so I can't really say anything, I don't know what may have happened so I suppose I will just have to wait for the shoes and put it down to one of those things. Supposing that i do receive them within the next couple of days, what should i do about feedback? I think 3+ weeks for delivery can't be overlooked but do i just leave a positive because 'alls well that ends well'? She has got excellent feedback up to now and if what she's saying is true then a negative would be very unfair, what would you do?0

just leave a positive.
i find the feedback system on ebay is fairly useless when ppl have got more than 50 good feedbacks, you know they're genuine when they've been dealing for a few years and have have no problem feedbacksCome to my garden in South Bucks and i'll find you a wasp...0 -
I'd leave a positive as well, but something to the effect of 'took longer than they should have, but delighted with them when I got them'. As long as you were!I only exist in my own mind - if you can see, hear or read me, you are a product of my imagination.0

I would leave a positive, at least she has kept up communication, and problems do happen.
One of my buyers never received an item (lost in post) an still left positive because I kept in touch and untimately it wasn't my fault.Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. i have had that happen to me so many times it's not funny
i no longer bother putting a return address on anything of low value,
when i do put a return address i only put the first half of my postcode
i was actually told by royal mail NOT TO PUT MY POSTCODE on return address because they'll then look for one on the other side of the package
i have also had them try to blame it on me saying it wasn't clear where it was going to
how unclear is SEND TO: name addresss on the front with the stamp/postage label and
IF UNDELIVERED PLEASE RETURN TO with my address, on the back at a weird angle at the edge of the package?????
