just for a different perspective - i'm 22 and am living at home for the moment. I have a part time job and I'm lucky to have that judging from a lot of people from where I live. I live with my mum and I don't pay any rent at all. I do put money towards the bills and food, but not much, but I don't ever complain for what I'm getting. This may seem like I'm spoilt, but I sat down with my mum and said that I'm trying to save as much of my wages as possible for a deposit on a house or flat, depending on how it all goes. She is all in favour for this, and as long as I try and save 50% of my wages a month, she is happy for this arrangement to continue. I have tried to give her money for keep, but she never takes it.
Do this mean I have no idea what's in store? Quite the opposite really. I know how little I'll have left each month, and I'm really careful with my money anyway.

Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

    No shouting from me.
You are referring to a consensual arrangement that both parties are happy with. If she needed a reasonable amount of extra money from you in order to balance the books and you refused it, constantly complained about it, or sabotaged her attempts to budget better, then IMO that is another matter entirely.
Perhaps your Mum is fortunate enough not to need any extra from you and would love to see you get on in life. Fair play to both of you.

You are saving for deposit and not p***ing up against a wall. No shouting from here. If you were abusing your mum's generosity and moaning about things then that is a different situation.
