Carphone Warehouse wont port number (now sorted)

We has just taken out a new contract on O2 via the carphone Warehouse website.

This was 5 days ago & we have just phoned up to port our old Vodafone number across & thay have basically said, sorry, its too late. They went on to say that the way the new account has been setup means we are unable to give them our PAC code & transfer the number across. There was no option when we ordered online to give them our PAC code.

Im pretty sure there is a law thats says you are allowed 14 days to transfer an existing number over to a new contract. O2 themselves are no help as they said our account is not with them but with "carphonewarehouse at 02"

Anybody else had problems transfering their old number with carphonewarehouse ??
Hmmmmmmm

You usually can't port a number in to a Vodafone or O2 contract once it's already started. Best option in this case will be to 14-day return the phone, and then order a new one and make sure you request the number port at the time of ordering this time!

when I looked into it a while back I think I found out that the only network you could port too after the start of the contract was orange, but I maybe wrong as it was about 6 months ago I looked for the info

Yes Orange will accept them any old time - I've just done one 6 months into the contract last week, and I'm doing another one next week.

T-Mobile are also usually receptive I believe to late port-ins.

    SORTED:-

A 'manager' from CPW just phoned (after much complaining), apologised, is going to depatch a new phone complete with sim & collect the old one. He took the pac code & will transfer our number. IT seems they are closing the 5 day old account & opening a new one up

    What a palava!!
