Nail Extension Misery!!

It's really not been my week.
I went into a nail bar earlier today in Leeds market (not because it was cheaper, may I add, it was £32!, but because I can walk right in and not have to have an appointment) and had some nail extensions done (white tip clear gel if anyone knows what that means
)
Anyway as soon as I walked in I was having my nails buffed and the tips stuck on. No handwash, no nail cleaning. Hmm. And the young Chinese girl doing my nails had awful broken scruffy nails too! Anyway, she did them in lightning fast time, and during the smoothing of the acrylic (using a mechanical buffer) she cut my right third finger and left others very sore.
They had signs up saying 'cash only' and 'no refunds' - now, my manicure is very nice, and I have no reason to believe it won't be longlasting, but one finger is killing me and my hands feel generally very sore! I expected my cuticles to be pushed back with an orange stick, but she just removed them with clippers and the electric file - owch! And throughout, no hand cream!

This wasn`t done in Gloucester was it ??
A friend of mine had a similar experience with a `cash only` nail bar and ironically a chinese lady !
She was having them done for her wedding and her fingers were so sore after having them done, she had to go to A&E to get them off as she couldn`t do it.
She went with her husband to the salon the next morning, and they wouldn`t even give her a refund, by this time, she had developed a slight infection in her fore finger and could barely use her hands !
Eventually after the threat of legal action, they gave her, her money back.
Total nightmare !Debt Free Jan 2010!(Be happy) the state of your life is nothing more than the state of your mind! X:j0 -
Sounds a bit like a cowboy outfit! Was it a permanent stall? Hope its not causing too much pain.

Sounds awful!
I have mine done every 3 weeks (the last week can be ropey) but I'm charged £20 for a full set, handwash, removal of varnish, buffing, hand and nail cream, nail oil, base coat, colour, gems or glitter, top coat and more oil. Takes about 1 and a quarter, have a good natter and a coffee.Panda xx

i dont know... tut tut.. ya gets what ya pay for in that game, the actual stuff is very expensive, cheap versions applied badly are cheap, but wreck your nails.
They could end up permanently damaged and ridged, my advice... take them off... you will need to soak them for 10-15 mins in ACETONE.. cheap and cheerful, makes your hands/nails feel awful so plenty of handcream and some olive oil rubbed into natural nails once off..
Of course, if your fingers are damaged/cut i wud wait until they have healed property as acetone will sting.

Kitty Kate,
If your fingers are hurting etc then I would certainly get checked out at A&E to make sure you don't have an infection. Going by what you have stated, I would most definitely go back to the nail bar and ask for a refund. What a bunch of cowboys. Don't wish to rub salt into the wounds but perhaps when your nails have healed and your fingers are ok etc, then perhaps you could check out your local college, they may be able to do you a nice manicure etc for a fraction of the price. I hope that you manage to get your nails sorted out, what ashame. I'd be hopping mad, would definitely go to A&E and also get money back too. Would you be able to complain to someone, Trading Standards equivalent or not, never had nail extensions etc so not sure. Post back and let us know how you are.“Ordinary riches can be stolen, real riches cannot. In your soul are infinitely precious things that cannot be taken from you.” - Oscar Wilde0 -
Chinese nail bars have had alot a bad press over the years.Some are known for using illegal products and shoddy techniques.
I personally would only use bio-nail or calgel qualified salon.
I hope your fingers get better soon x0 -
Thats AWFUL!
I would say that if someone goes to cut your cuticles - just get out there and then - its NOT good. The cuticles end up growing back thicker and stronger, and ultimately (if that treatment continues) end up being so that they cannot get pushed back. Its pure and simply, just bad practice.
Good luck if you decide to take this further.0 -

Is that a normal price? I've never had my nails done but I would like toSilence is more musical than any song0 -
The girl that does mine is a UK Champion (they have competitions!), she takes about 45 mins to do complete infills.
ALL done by hand - no electrical equipment at all. I pay £26 but I've never had a days trouble with them - & I've been getting the same ones 'topped up' for 18 months now!
Get yourself to a fully qualified technician ASAP. What's happened to you is V serious & could cause untold harm to your nail beds, let alone infections etc.
Take care..................:mad: :j:D:beer::eek::A:p:rotfl::cool::):(:T0
