                    Hi
I'm 7 wks pregnant and although i know its very early we have been looking into pushchairs mainly becasue my partner is 6'3" and will need one to suit his hight as well as mine (i'm 5'1") quite a difference as you can see and the only suitable one we have found is the Quinney Buzz which is lovely and does everything we want but for everything we need we are looking at around £600 - £700 OUCH!!
Anyway thats basically why we are looking now if i have to pay that we are going to have to do some serious saving between now and when herbut arrives.
I was wondering if any of you lovely people can advise on a pushchair that would suit but that i dont have to take a small mortgage out on to buy.
Thanks in advance :-) xx

would you consider a used one? There are loads on ebay, might be worth a look. Some of them look as good as new and you could always buy a new insert/footmuff bit for it.
(There are new ones on ebay too)0 -
Hi My partner is tall too and we got a bugaboo for when my son was born last year as amongst other things it has an adjustable height for the "Pushing handle"! it is an expensive pram but three kids later it is the best pram we have ever bought. With my other two we ended up buying many other pushchairs as well as their main one but we have never had any complaints about the bugaboo and it will def last him as long as he needs a pram! I used to work for mothercare so know quite abit about the various prams that around so if I can be off any help please let me know oh and congratulations!!! xx0

If i knew where it had come from then yes i wouldnt mind second hand im not overly keen on buying second hand baby kit from sources unknown though like ebay. I know its silly and that babies are not that delicate really but it must be a mental block i have because when they get older i tend to buy a lot of second things like toys and buggys, daft ay ;-):jFriends are like fabric you can never have enough:j0

xmaslolly76 have you looked at the new My Choice pushchair that Mothercare do its a very good pushchair and similar to the Buzz (its made by the same company). Its £350 but you wouldn't need to buy a seperate carry cot, it has the extendable handle and takes either the Cabrio car seat or Mothercares own brand Travel tot which is much cheaper (and again made by Maxi Cosi). You're in the same position I was. My OH is 6ft 3 and I'm 5ft 2. The bugaboo has the problem that changing the handle height is not really quick. I find as we walk around town we swap who is pushing depending on if the other is looking at something so we might change the handle height several times in one shopping trip. I really like the Jane Slalom and Stokke Xplory for good height range and ease of changing.
I'd advise looking on Ebay for local pushachirs you could see before you buy, so you can see how clean they are. Some people like me are pramaholics (I'm reformed I now only use slings
). The pushchairs are often barely used. I have a Buzz sat is my cupboard which has been used less than 6 times, an Xplory whose carrycot was used twice and various other barely used pushchairs. Don't think because they are used they are run into the ground. 0 -
This is all really helpfull thank you. I really want one that will grow with the baby instead of buying some massive bulky thing that you then set aside for a small compact buggy 6 months on. I will have a good scour of ebay and see what comes up as you say i dont have to buy if they look well worn or dirty.
The bugaboo Lesley is lovely but the ones i looked at are well out of my price range, i just cant warrent spending more on my pram than i have on my car lol.
Ive just looked at the mothercare version i think a trip to the shop may be called for to check it out looks like a good option :-)
The stokke is well funky my partner will want that one as it comes in lime green and matches his motorbike lmao.
The jane slalom looks good i really like the colours it comes in it will be another one i will have to search out and go look at
Thank you everyone for all your help its a minefield out there lol :-) xx:jFriends are like fabric you can never have enough:j0 -
I would recommend keeping an eye on ebay once you've decided, as you have plenty of time.
We bought a loola from ebay although I wasn't keen on 2nd hand the one we bought in the end (after watching a million!) was a 2nd pram which had been kept at grandmas and was barely used, it looked good in the listing but when it arrived it is like new.MFW Start Sep 07 £79484, Now £587740 -

We've got the maclaren techno xt. My Husband is 6'1 and I'm 5'6 and we both have it on the top setting so there are two lower settings than this. It is a pushbutton release so height is instantly changeable. Folds up very small, and fit's in tiny car boot's. It's suitable from birth, though I tended to carry her or use sling when she was younger anyway. The only downsides I have found are- basket is tiny- so had to have a very compact change bag (not very practical with a newborn and reuseables.) When they are tiny, can't hang anything on handles as they are too light to counterbalance. We made a lovely padded cosy toes to make it warm and cosy (though xlr comes with this I think.)
It's hard finding a buggy but we figured that once they are 6 months they only need a stroller type anyway, so we would go straight for that one. Also lot's of friends had said that they had ended up buying a maclaren or similiar as they are so practical.
If you were thinking about an expensive pram what about buying something like the buzz second hand with the older seat and buying a brand new pram/ carrycot to go with?0 -
Thats an option fernliebe i forget you can buy all the extras seperate and the frame itself cant pick up that much damage really so a new child seat and carrycot would make it almost new. x:jFriends are like fabric you can never have enough:j0
