I was looking forward to taking Tiscali up on their phone broadband and line rental offer, having read some of the trouble Tiscali have caused some customers I have now changed my mind. Can anyone recommend a good alternative? Cheers.

Tbh with every company you will get bad press. People are very quick to whinge but slow to praise. Its really what you want to go for...Price or Service? Its also really about what you need to suit your calling pattern. Shop around, dont rush into things.* INFORMER *Life is too short for serial complainers. Got a problem? Get it sorted and get over it!Disclaimer: Any comments made by me are those of my own and may not be those of my employer or colleagues.0 -
SKY for me everytime.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
As mentioned, it all depends on your usage, calling patterns etc. But my recommendation would be:
PO Homephone (free evening & weekend calls to UK landlines, free weekend calls to UK mobiles and 20 international destinations). Miles better than BT.
O2 Broadband £12.50 a month unlimited up to 8MB, or £7.50 a month if you are already an O2 customer. Best ISP I have ever had, and consistently comes out near the top of ISP ratings.
Good luck choosing!0 -
i used to be with tiscali but they couldn't' include my line rental so I moved to talktalk..
I have,
phone line, up to 8meg broadband(actual 5meg), telephone with free evening and weekend calls to uk and most world wide country's for under £17.00 per month! and i got £100 cash back from quidco!!!!! you couldnt do better than that but the quidco offer will have changed by now so check it out....regards....bri:j0 -
well I transfered to Tiscali for the lot on 29th November 2008 I got the broadband on 5th January 2009  and am still waiting for the kine rental and calls, Bt say it's Tiscali, Tiscali say its Bt, I have given up talking to both.
they are both useless.
Plans for 2009
1/ Get fit. 2/ Get my figure back. 3/ Get the MAN BACK! :kisses2::happylove

Tiscali are the worst provider around. If you ever get a problem they are totally unable to sort it. 4 months, hours of phone calls, lots of promises and recorded delivery letters ignored. My problem is with Pipex who I originally changed to from tiscali which were fine until Tiscali took them over.0

I'm with Tiscali for broadband only - BT line rental as Tiscali not available on my exchange - have had Tiscali BB for nearly 3 years. Never had any problems at all.
I'm looking at moving my phone & line rental to one provider, purely to save money, and the only company I can get it all through (apart from BT but that would cost more than I'm paying now) is Talk Talk, but I keep reading bad reviews from 2007 or so. Can't really find any more recent ones.
Sorry to hi-jack the thread but thought it was a similar topic.
Anyone on here got any feedback about Talk Talk?0 -
Thanks for the advice everyone, don't mind the thread being hijacked! I would love to have one company take care of calls, line and broadband but it seems you cant trust any of them, cant get the sky package but have been looking at Madasafish!? anyone had any dealings with them? line rental and eve and w/e calls free for £9.75. and £9.65 for broadband (for the first six months.) My calls are with primus but I was rather alarmed to find out they charge a fiver for 1471! anything can beat that if you ask me.0

That sounds like you use Primus as your CPS calls provider. In which case, 1471 is a BT service (your incoming calls still arrive on BT) - and is free.My calls are with primus but I was rather alarmed to find out they charge a fiver for 1471!
In any case, where did you get the information that Primus charge £5 for 1471?Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -

Madasafish are owned by BT (see 'About Us' on the Madasafish website); they were bought by BT in 2007. However, they don't sell exactly the same products as BT, and their Ts and Cs aren't the same either. Nonetheless, because they're backed by BT I think we can assume that they're not going to disappear overnight.
