Jim Rogers advises young Brits to leave the country! Now!

When asked his advice for a young person growing up in Britain, Jim Rogers, former partner of George Soros and one of the world's most successful investors, is forthright. "Move to China; learn Chinese." In an interview with The Independent, Mr Rogers warns that Britain will go bankrupt if the Government continues to follow its present policy of attempting to save the banks through subsidy and nationalisation.

As an investor, you know that any kind of investment opportunity has its risks, and investing in Stocks or Precious Metals is highly speculative. All of the content I post is for informational purposes only.

Nothing new. For a few years now, private tuition in Mandarin has been de rigour for the children of top financiers, industrialists etc. in the moneyed classes.

It's an option at my children's school too, as a lunchtime/afterschool option :)

Mind you, with China already overpopulated, where would all our youngsters fit in?

By that same token, if our youngsters go to China, that wouldn't help our own economy to recover.

Yep. But by learning Mandarin you can show-off at your local Chinese take-away.

And you're basing this on one individual's opinion... a banker no less. Given their track record, I think it's fair to be a little more demanding.

My Chinese Take Away are very helpful. They have translations on their menues and my Favourite Dish, Chicken Curry, becomes a Seventy Eight when translated into English.
I am a Mortgage Consultant and don't like to be told what I can and can't put in a signature so long as it's legal and truthful.

I was talking about China to my DD and she said, "I've been there", no you haven't etc. Yes I have, a lady gave me a lollypop.

China is arguably the worst place to be in the world, hell even Somali is better as you know what to expect but China is going down and given China's history and present government make up odds are its going turn into warlords fighting against each other.

As for NZ, I thought that but they are reported near needing IMF help and the country is VERY dependent on cars, so if oil starts to become an issue then it could be a very uncomfortable place. Brazil is probably the best bet if your looking for somewhere to ride this out.

I wouldn't go to South America in a financial crisis if my life depended on it...... I'm not fond of being made into cannibal soup.

At least in NZ, if you're going to be in a broke country (as UK will be (or is)), it might as well be very sunny, with lots of beach, few mouths to feed and a glut of sheep.
