High milage corsa - any opinions please?

s'pose it's high mileage for a 2 yr old car. But if it was parked next to a 4 year old Corsa with 15,000 on I'd choose the newer one as it will have done less "running" time and less stop starting than the higher mileage one.
I did see a Fiesta tdci a few weeks ago that was just under 3 years old and had done about 140,000 miles! Think it had been used by some Security company and used by the day shift, the night !!!! and the inbetween shift.0 -

Seen as tho u mentioned it the guy also has a 55 plate corsa, had been an old ladys car only done 7,000 miles and she'd sold it as the dvla had taken her license off her hmmm that seemed more scary than the high milage one!0 -
How do you drive 40,000 miles a year in a diesel Corsa? It's 160 miles a day, 5 days a week, 50 weeks a year.
Either you'd go deaf, or be severly deformed when you finally get out of the drivers seat. Or both.0 -
I'd second the idea about the driving instructor, but would expect it to have dual controls if so. They wouldn't go to the bother of taking them out would they?
Tbh I'd be more tempted by the old lady's one. You don't know the circumstances surrounding her license being taken off her. It may be that she just though she should stop driving about now as she's getting on or whatever, and surrendered her license, without actually driving badly or whatever. Sorry if that makes no sense at all!
But 79k is rather high for a 2 year old car as previous people have said.
If its any interest, me and my mother share an old 1999T 1.0 corsa which we bought a few months ago with just 16k on the clock! Also owned by an old lady for most of this time, but she had had it serviced at the local main dealer every year and it fingers crossed its fine thus far.0 -
Almost 5k for a Corsa with almost 80k on the clock is ridiculous, even if it is only a couple of years old.
I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole.
And yes Driving Schools do take dual controls out of cars and they also very often don't register them under their business name.0 -
If the price was right............ and I was in your positon......that would be sitting outside my house now!:DSeen as tho u mentioned it the guy also has a 55 plate corsa, had been an old ladys car only done 7,000 miles and she'd sold it as the dvla had taken her license off her hmmm that seemed more scary than the high milage one!0 -
Agreed, a far better buy.;)0

Thanks for replies everyone.
The older corsa is 2006 55 plate, it's the old shape and is a 1.2 petrol, design spec. It's £4795 so £200 cheaper than the previous car mentioned.
Even though its only a petrol compared to a diesel and not as good spec, no alloys etc and is the same price is it deffo a better buy?
Sorry, clueless! lol0 -
This is what I'd do. It's not for everybody, and if you knew someone with a little experience of auctions it would help. Stick to the fleet sales (ex mobility cars might be a good one, should probably all have FSH, they'd tell you before the car goes through).

This is what some have sold for over the previous 5 weeks at auction (actual prices).
Obviously you cant tell what condition they are in (some might have an odd bump or scrape), you would need to look at what was there at the time.0 -

Like I say - the day shift, the night shift and the inbetween shift will have used it.
Also the lower mileage car will be more worn and bumper about, where as the high mileage one will have sat in 5th gear for it's life and never had time to car a car park dent lol.
Unless it's been a Driving School car. Does the V5 show one lady owner? Whats her address? Look for Driving Schools around the area where she lives and see if it was one0
