Good morning, we went out for a meal last night for one of our very best friends birthday. It was a lovely night although i ended up feeling a little ill so wasn't able to stay out too late, we knew it was coming so budgeted accordingly. We have £20 left for the remainder of the week and should only need to buy milk and bread so should be fine. Well today shoulld be a no spend day so that's good i'll try to update later if that changes.

I tend to prefer to buy my groceries weekly, in groceries i am including
    food
    toiletries
    cleaning products
    loo roll
    cat food and litter
    cigarettes
none of this should be bought weekly... ok maybe cigs n minor food. all bar food n cigs is very cheap from the likes of wilkinsons and poundland! asda is the next cheapest.

i thought i did quite well to get all of that for £40 a week or have i been fooling myself?
where do u buy ur food? what ranges u buyin??

We have the car due to the fact that sometimes i have to work late and being female don't want to walk in the dark, i have seriously considered selling it and just paying for taxis as and when i need them. Not including petrol the car costs us £520 a year, and that's if it passes the mot and service without needing work, and £520 could pay for a lot of taxis! I don't know why i don't just sell it. I think if i was in debt then i would, but at the moment we can afford to run it so i think i will keep it on for now. I may look at selling it when the weather improves!
sorry but rhe car seems like a massif unnecessary! basically only used for when u work late. if u really need a ride home, book a local taxi rather than a black cab. ud save yourself a lot of hassle and so much money!

    Chuckley, thankyou for your response
I don't buy anything other than food and cigs weekly i just lump toiletries/cleaning stuff etc in with groceries on my SOA to make it easier, any money left out of the £40 gets paid off the mortgage at the end of the month so it's not frittered away.
The car is something i'm struggling with at the moment, it's old and runs wonderfully, it is so reliable but i can see how much we're spending on it and do debate getting rid of it. I'll follow closely how much it is really costing me and then re assess in a few months i think.
