Toshiba Laptop sound

Hi
Is there anyone out there who might be able to tell me why the sound isn't working on my Toshiba Equium laptop? I've made sure all the volume controls are set right and the control panel says the speakers are working but when you test them..nothing. Would be grateful for any help. Its only a year old. Thank you

  • Try re-installing the sound card drivers, downloadable for your model from here
  • Thanks...have looked at this but am too computer illiterate to make sense of it all, it wants me to download programmes and pay in dollars..too confusing! But thanks anyway
  • Which model Tosh have you got? I assume it's running Vista?
  • Can I suggest you go to the top of this thread and find the 'search this forum' button. Click on it, type in 'no sound' and read the resulting threads.
I say 'no sound' rather than including a reference to Toshiba as there are specific posts about Toshiba sound problems but ALSO some on sound problems in general.
Then when you have a bit better knowledge you can decide what course of action to take.

I experienced this problem and on investigation I found there were NO sound details so could NOT download new drivers as couldn't find out what soundcard is present.

This problem appeared to arise after an IE update.
it's all well documented and there's a stack of info on these Techie threads so good luck.:T
  • Thanks both. Yes its vista. Have looked through some old threads and uninstalled programme then rebooted but has made no difference. Its so annoying!!
  • Which model equium is it?
  • Its an A100-02K
  • Go to this page

    Choose the Family Equium series
Choose the Product Series Equium A
Choose the Model Equium A100 (PSAA4)
Choose Operating System Windows vista 32bit
    Choose Driver Type Sound driver

    Click search

At the bottom of the page you should see a download for Realtek Sound driver
Click on the sound drive link and download the file
When downloaded, unzip it and find the setup file

Double click to start the setup

Once the driver is installed reboot your laptop
