Sellers not accepting returns question

Hi everyone!

I am hoping someone can help me! I've been lurking on this board for a while but haven't posted before.

I have seen a mobile phone I like on E-Bay. There are 2 the same on Buy It Nows. One is a few pounds more expensive than the other but this seller has 100% feedback so would probably go with that one. The problem is that the seller doesn't accept returns and as the phone is brand new and sealed I wonder what would happen if the phone was faulty and didn't work properly?

I'd be paying for it via Paypal.

Many thanks in advance!

    Ignore the bitter post #2.

Paypal will protect you if the item is faulty on arrival, and the seller not accepting returns is for "unwanted purchase", not because the item is faulty. The seller would have to take it back if faulty.
However, be aware that mobiles can go wrong anywhen, and you will very likely be stuck with a dead phone if it breaks after a few months. I would only buy a phone if it had a receipt from a shop included. (unless the phone is very cheap)

Yes, I have issues and they've always resolved.

I may not like paypal and being forced to use it but pretending it's the route of all evil is bolloxs.

If the seller has already said they don't accept returns, and you only have a picture to go on, how much of a fight do you want if it's not as described, or doesn't work?
Leave it, there will be another seller along shortly, or buy from a shop with a proper guarantee.

The only other place I have seen the phone is on o2 website but when I tried to order it from them they charged me 3 times whilst telling me that the order hadn't gone through. I didn't realise I'd been charged until I got a call from my banks fraud dept! When I did finally order it over the phone they didn't even put the order through! The customer service was rubbish and I've lost a bit of faith in them! However, it's not an overly expensive phone.

    I'm confuzzled now!!!!

Yep, I have had a few dealings with ebay / paypal, and always got my money back :) Paypal may be wrong sometimes, but you can get it sorted out. Its harder as a seller, but in an instance like in this, you are safe to buy.

Yes lots of people who don't understand paypal having problems isn't really news.

I believe ebay and paypal are at fault for making it sound like anyone can use their services. There will always be people who refuse to take basic precautions or who refuse to read up on a service and use it regardless. Then these same peple run into problems and expect everyone to be sympathetic.

I think ebay and paypal should make it harder for people to sign up and use the service unless they prove they have an understanding of basic common sense first.

Just a clue here for some of the posts on that forum..if you send something and cannot prove it has arrived then yes you have to refund, it isn't rocket science, honest. Putting silly statements in aucitons saying you as a seller are not responsible for lost parcels is not awfully bright.

It's the Sony Ericsson W580i, in Pink.

I had a look at the S500i (in lilac) on Tesco direct but not convinced with the reviews. They also have the W580i but its the white and silver one. I might be better just getting one of those one's. If any one has any experience of either of these phones your advice would be appreciated!!!!
