refund for Ryanair tickets booked by mistake

I made a very silly mistake (long story) and booked 2 seats by mistake. I had 5 screen opened at the time and entered my credit card info in the wrong one etc..
I phoned Ryanair immediately and told them.

They said:- can't cancel, can't get your money back only Gvt Tax.

Any suggestions, please?

Thank you

Suggestion would be take their advice cancel and get your tax back...and just make sure that next time you book on Ryan Air you dont multi task ;)

Simple error but as we know Ryan air done the right way is very very competitive but sadly for some when a human error occurs it can be costly.

Don't even bother with reclaiming the taxes, the admin fee they charge will almost certainly cancel that out. Combined with the premium rate call you make will mean that you will actually be paying more than you already have.
Just put it down to experience and move forward.
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

    Look at it this way:

Since airlines sell seats on a class basis imagine you bought the last two tickets in the cheapest class. Someone may have booked the seats only minutes after you and had to pay for instance £100 rather than £50.

If Ryanair gave you the customers name and number and refunded you - would you refund them?
  • Thanks for all the replies.

The actual advice of putting it down to experience and forgetting about it is (surprisingly) useful. I am still feeling really sick about it: it was £467 after all and I still need to cough up £95 for my own ticket now!.

I have been told the refund is 2/3 of the charged tax&levy.

    Any further advice welcome.

Rather than cancelling why not find somewhere you do want to go with Ryanair and change the booking to that - admittedly it's £25 per person per flight but it might mean a lower overall loss than just getting taxes back

Alternatively pray that Ryanair changes the dates & times of the flights to make them legally unacceptable & hence refundable

Hoping they'll change it is a very long shot, but changing it might be a good idea - you'll be able to switch to any flight currently taking bookings (right through to autumn atm). Only snag is that if it was 2 seats made on the same booking reference number you might not be able to change just one of them. Definitely worth checking out though.

i did this last week with air france, bought 4 tickest and then noticed id put the wrong date for flying out
rang straight away and was told it was my own fault(which fair enough it was) and got told they would only refund my taxes, minus a admin charge.
got the refund through yesterday of #64.77 per ticket when i only paid 71pounds for them each so worth trying to claim back you never know

With all due respect, Ryanair and Air France are vastly different companies. Yes it's worth a try (if you can find a way to do it without using premium rate phone numbers) but I wouldn't get your hopes up.
