Hi
I was hoping for some advice.
CCCS have advised BR to me, and have been for the past 6 months. I'm currently robbing Peter to pay Paul and still keep up payments on the DMP! My OH knows I'm in debt but not how much. He proposed over the New Year and (naturally) I said yes!
It means that we are moving to Germany at the end of the school year.
I was planning to keep on repaying on the DMP using my maintainence,(for the next God knows how many years!).
I was wondering if saving & selling to get the court fees then going BR before I leave would be an option.
Is this running away?
I'm not trying to get out of paying off my debts but frankly I can't go like this much longer.
Last time I spoke to CCCS the adviser told me that unless I "fiddle" my budget to make the minumum payments (currently £35.00) they can't help me. My circumstances are not going to change until July, when I will lose CB & Tax Credits anyway due to the move.
I'm sorry for the long post but I'm not quite sure what to do and I'm starting to worry again, which made me ill last year!

Hi Rugbymum,
I think the fact that CCCS can only help you if you fiddle your figures speaks volumes about your situation. At the end of the day it's only yourself you are fiddling, trying to make ends meet when there is an obvious gap in the middle.
Would you feel like you were running away from your debts? Or would you feel like you'd given it your best shot, but deserve a fresh start?
BR isn't an easy way out, despite what some think, although you may debt free there it does take it's toll emotionally, but nowhere near as bad as living day to day robbing Peter to pay Paul, so please, if you to chose this route, don't feel that you're running away.
At the end of the day you need to look after your health, and your child(ren) and you need to sort this before you get married, it will do your marriage no good whatsoever if you're still knee deep in debt, far more than your husband knows. If the way to make that happen is BR, then so be it.
Nobody can say 'yes do it' that's a decision you do have to make for yourself, but I hope I've given you food for though.
Any more questions, just ask.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
Thank you Peachy.
I don't want to run away from anything, but in reality my finances are going to get worse instead of better. Although my intended is going to support us, I won't be able to work until at least the beginning of 2010.
I am currently selling stuff anyway, less to pack for a start  , and to try to get some money together so I don't move with an empty purse.
I think I am worried about how the process works. I'm not too bothered about the local paper bit (I won't be here!), but will I be allowed to move? I mean will the OR or creditors try to stop me or think that I have funds stashed away?
Because I have no idea how it all works I have a million questions, but I'm aware that not everyone is planning to emigrate!LBM:FEB 2008

Yes, you will be allowed to move, no problem at all. The only thing you have to do is give the OR your contact details, then you're free to live anywhere you like. And it will be much easier to get it out of the way before you go.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0

Thanks again.
After your last post I checked out the Insolvency website. I've registered and I'm going to get the ball rolling.
I just want a fresh start. I've been dealing with all this for so long on my own that I just want to be able to say, I did my best, but in the end I just couldn't do it anymore.LBM:FEB 2008

Hello rugbymum(just over a border, I see) -
I've spotted your post as I mis-hit button for closing down and would ask you, please, please PLEASE to make a call to CAP and read the many posts (story, if you've time and a mind to do so)of mumoftwins.
She, Martin, self and many others praise this organisation to the skies, the only fear being people having misconceptions when they read CAP stands for Christians Against Poverty.
I just strongly feel they would be perfect for you and you for them.
Will you try? - then you really CAN make a conscience easy new start.
The no's here: www.capuk.org
Just want to add that no-one I've met on this site who is now with CAP is a churchgoer, nor am I - it doesn't matter and they are completely non-judgmental.
I really hope for you that you'll give them a call or at least respond here to the idea.

That's a needless misinterpretation.

Thank you so much for your reply. I've checked out the website but as there is no centre near me they refer me to the contacts for CAB, PayPlan, CCCS etc.Hello rugbymum(just over a border, I see) -
