I wish Vince would set up his own Party, being a Lib-Dem is holding him back IMHO[strike]Debt @ LBM 04/07 £14,804[/strike]01/08 [strike]£10,472[/strike]now debt free:j

I wouldn't vote Lib Dems, even though I agree with Cable a lot more than the other 2, simply because Lib Dems are far to socialist for me.
I agree with one of the Labour MP's quite a lot, but I won't vote labour, they have and always will bring the country to it's knees trying to buy votes.
It will be tory for me. I'm big enough to see that although many people dislike Maggie, she was someone who didnt mince her words and operate through smoke and mirrors, she did what she thought best, took decisive action, and for all the wants people have, people just didnt like it when those big decisions didnt go their way. For others, they still do fully support her. One thing you can say about her is she didnt dither. I wasn't old enough to be effected by her though. However my dad was and although he was effected in some of the things, like he said, she did things, didnt just announce things and then not do them. Balls of steel she had, even though she had none.
But I'm also mature enough to know that she isnt going to be running the party this time, so I don't know why people say I won't vote tory cus of Maggie.0 -

He chose not to run last time. Which is a shame, but it's hard to elect someone who isn't running.0 -
I am curious as to how people who say "I'm not voting for Tory/Labour but couldn't bring myself to vote Labour/Tory either" vote. You only have a choice of one party in government or the other, so not voting for one could end up as an effective vote for the other. For instance how many disaffected Tories switched to LibDem in 97 because they despised their own party but could never bring themselves to vote Labour? How many more seats did the Tories lose because of it?
If we had a proper electoral system - one where every vote counted - then we wouldn't be in such a stupid situation. Time for PR!0 -

True, but if he did, do you think they would have really voted for him? I think that would have affected his decison to run or not.
Actually, I don't think much is lost by having him as shadow Chancellor. Kind of like how Ming should have stayed with his foreign affairs brief.0 -
In the constituency I live in it's either the Lib Dems or Tory's who win with Labour a very poor third. As I think David Cameron is an idiot that leaves me with............I'm not cynical I'm realistic

I'm not voting Labour because of Harold Wilson

Re the Thatcher thing, I agree she didnt dither ....but then neither did Hitler !0

I'll vote Lib Dem.
Don't understand why the English media under Murdoch are always so anti-europe. Having travelled a bit, the citizens countries of Netherlands, Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Germany seem to have better quality of living, with more liberal attitudes to life. Why can't we become more integrated with europe and copy their govt models and ideas which are proven to work? Don't exactly need to re-invent the wheel with every new govt.
Conservatives strike me as Etonians that will be out to line their own pockets and that of big business. Moan about everything constantly (Daily Mail style) whether it's right or wrong. Very much about appearence and spin warfare within the media. Can't stand seeing smug George Osbourne lecturing general public either.
Seem to think that getting the general population to work extra-ordinary long hours is the way forward. Germans work shorter hours, have more holidays and yet are more productive, surely efficiency rather than long hours are the way to go.
Can't vote for Labour either as they're all about employing an army of back office public sector wealth redistributers who do nothing to aid the real economy. They surrendered Maggies negotitated rebate from paying into europe, without renogotiation of CAP, why? Labour also seem to think this country can afford to be policemen of the world, fighting wars, using money that would be better spent on it's citizens at home. Labour are all about waste when what's needed is efficiency in order to improve the Quality of living for the general population.

1. At a local level they say whatever and work with whoever to get into power. They appear to stand for nothing other than achieving office. At least with the Tories and Labour (and the SNP and Plaid if you are in those parts of the world) you know what they stand for. The LibDems - if indeed they do have any principles - don't appear to display any.
2. They are not an alternate government nationally. Regardless of who you vote for in a General Election you will get either a Labour government or a Tory government. They could promise the moon on a stick and they still have no chance whatsoever of even finishing 2nd.
There also have a 'leader' (Clegg) who doesnt even try to come across as anything other than unpleasant and irritable.
How did his party allow him to become leader? He seems quite short-tempered and incompetent.
The thing that Liberal's previous leaders had (and what got them the large nu,mber of seats of recent times) was affability and charisma. Ashdown had it. Charlie Kennedy had bags of it as did Menzies.
Clegg is oafish, boorish and not very nice - he seems as if he thrives on bile.0
