Cheers again0 -
I think these prices are high, I got a great acer laptop for £250 and it was brand new. Came with vista loaded. I have had a refurbished laptop in the past and it did not last long, battery life was awful as others have mentioned. I hope this helps.0

Do you have a link or store name from where you got your Acer?
I had an Acer laptop a few years back and don't remember it being all that great, ok it may've been a budget one, but it still didn't give me a good impression with the way it performed0 -
Well mine was from a local supplier, are you anywhere near Gloucestershire?
I love it, have had many Dell's in the past which I have thought were good but the acer is better, well I think so anyway. If you are close to me I can pass on details of the supplier if you are interested.0 -
This is that point where things get annoying.
Here is a nice one ..For only £39 more than your budget ...Sorry

So basically as above - Would you buy a refurbished laptop from ebay?
Don't buy any sort of laptop (or mobile phone) from ebay.
The shops are desperate at the moment, so there's plenty of good deals to be had from places that you can go back to if your laptop croaks."Love you Dave Brooker! x"

If you want to use Windows XP rather than Vista you need to know that:
Computers loaded with 'Vista Home Basic' or 'Vista Home Premium' CANNOT be downgraded to 'Windows XP' however laptops loaded with 'Vista Business' CAN be downgraded to Windows XP. I'm not a techie so don't know why this is the case, I found out when researching for my own purchase because I didn't want to use Vista.
www.laptopsdirect.co.uk have some laptops with Vista Business and if you pay an extra £39 they'll load Windows XP for you instead. On the laptops described as 'Twinloaded' with Vista & XP there is no additional charge, you just have to load up first Vista and then down grade it to XP with the 2 CDs that come with your laptop.0
