In my experience water companies take no prisoners with non-payers. I had a problem where essex and suffolk water mistakenly told me I hadn't paid my DDR. When I phoned up to sort it out the operator was so sarcastic I eventually put the phone down on him. I gave it a few days to cool off (after all I had the proof I had paid it) and I recieved in that short time a letter saying that they had applied for a CCJ if I didn't immediately pay the full amount. I had to pay the money to the court because of the time scale involved and that included a fee for court solicitor etc-nearly doubling the debt. I have been trying to get this sorted since November as I feel they should compensate me by repaying the court costs,I was never in arrears at all it was their error. In future I will try to pay in full as I have found to my cost that they will take immediate action if they think you have defaulted in any way.
Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it!

    Under any circumstances
  • Not at the moment, but AW is trying to introduce 'trickle' meters.
