Can I still get a maintenance loan?

Hey everyone,
I
This is my 1st year at Uni and half way through I am already owning alot of money and in alot of debt.
I only applied for a tuition fee loan and maintenance grant... Not thinking that I would need any more.
I am going to get a student overdraft from Natwest soon.
Can I get maintenance Loan right now?
I was entitled to about £3000- £6000 but didnt think I would need any.
Is it possible for me to get the money now and how quick would the money be in my bank account?
Thanks a Bunch.

I'm not sure if it varies by area but I've certainly come across the rule that you have to apply within 9 months of the start of your course. Ring your LEA and check.0

So theres a possibility of not receiving any?

You should be able to claim a maintance loan at pretty much any point. And you'll have to take that out before your allowed any hardship funds (not that we're at this point yet).
Your LEA might just tell you to contact the SLC. To get a grant I presume you've had to be income assessed (or your parents have), so that should make getting an income assessed loan easier. But being a pre-grants person I dont know the process fully.
Loan amounts vary, 6.5k for london 4.5k elsewhere, 3k living at home, with 25% of that total income assessed. Those totals are per year.
You sound slightly paniced. Student debt is generally high, although without the maintaince loans and overdraft I'm intregued as to who/what you owe money on. By the sounds of things once you get access to your loan/overdraft it might be worth juggling your debts around a bit to make them cheaper. Eitherway take care.0 -

All you actually need to do is download a Maintenance Loan Request form from the Forms & Guides section of the SFD website, www.studentfinancedirect.co.uk.
Send that to your LEA, and you'll get the money, and can be backdated to the start of the academic year.0 -

But that doesn't necessarily mean that there's no time limit for doing so.0 -

Well I spend money on everday things such as food, travel, clothes...
I just spent alot of money on my car as it needed a few bits and bobs. ( A few £1000's)
I am spending between £40- £60 a week on fuel.
I owe a few people money, including my parents!!
So I figured that this maintenance loan will help me get through the rest of the year and I plan to pay back the maintenance loan next year some time.
I did get the maintenance grant however I only got just over £200. So im hoping that I get a fair amount from the maintenance loan.
Ill have to ring them the next time they are open
Thanks for everyones help0 -

There isn't really a time limit at all for this bit in honesty, provided you've got an application in.
Saying that, we have previously declined maintenance loans relating to a previous academic year. General rule we use where I work is if it comes in whilst the student is still studying, we'll process it.0 -
