Hi have recently brought the Sony Erricson C905 well on contract for 18 months. I went to CPW as T mobile not giving me a good deal on retention.

Have got tmobile again via CPW as best deal I felt for me.

I took out the CPW insurance - Geek Squad as Its an expensive phone - have always had cheaper ones but really wanted this one. I read the small print was in there an hour and SA was not pushy.

The 14 day cooling off spell ends this weekend, I was going to cancel and look at other phone insurance ones as this one is £8.99 a month, others seems to be half this price but dont know if these insurance plans are worth it?

Ive never lost a phone yet! I work in a College and do keep my bag with me and have an eye on it most of the time in classrooms but we have had a few phones pinched at work, mainly from offices. I dont leave mine there.

There is a couple of policies mentioned on here, but I dont know if Its best to risk it or insure it.

Students say its one of those phones thats best insured. I dont know anyone with an insured phone apart from some with iphones.

Wishing Id read up on this in advance more now!

Would be grateful of any advice - many thanks in advance:)

  • read the small print and weigh things up.

If you never loose/have it stolen then that is fine, but remember you now have a more "desirable" phone for someone to appropriate.

Calls/net use when stolen are a terrifying prospect- see some of the threads about unauthorised calls on here, remeber that as it is a contract phone- this is why, however "good value" the £9 three contract is (and it is a great deal) I wont buy it for my 15yr old DD (she has never ever lost a phone, but if she did and didn't notice all day we'd be stuffed!).

Make sure if you do insure that water damaged (the perpetual "get out" for a malfunctioning phone it seems) is covered, and that replacewment will be acceptable (same phone? refurb/new?).

I haven't yet insured a phone, but when I get my Iphone I will- if some scruffy oik pulls a knife on me on the train and says "gimmee" I'm afraid I sall reluctantly comply:confused: THey wouldn't bother for my current phone!
