A friend of mine had this as their second dance, the groom wanted it as their first!!

Im having my sister singing in the church Islands in the stream by dolly parton and kenny rogers and for the first dance we are having the wonder of you as its the song i did on karaoke to my fiance on our first holiday together.

I walked down the isle to This Mortal Coil - Song for the Siren and came back up to Morecambe and Wise 'Bring me sunshine'.

We also prepared a few songs for our guests while they were waiting for me to arrive.

    Zero 7 - Destiny
Nick Cave - Into My Arms
    Cranberries - Dreaming my Dreams
Richard Hawley - Baby Your My Light
    Enya - May It be.

Make sure there personal to you, we had our first dance to The Smiths - There is a light, not everyone's cup of tea,but it couldn't have been anything else for us.

If I could have "there is a light" for my first dance then i would but tragically for me my OH's ex was a huge smiths/morrissey fan and so he won't have it on principle! I love Nick Cave too, but not sure that we'll get away with the first line ("I don't believe in an interventionalist God"). Thinking of having Nature Boy in the disco playlist. I hadn't thought of Morecombe and Wise, but how lovely! Gotta go back to the list and look at the others now, so many suggestions!

Thanks for all the suggestions, it's good to know that you can be quite eclectic and the guests can still take it.

I am a motown fan, and there are loads in that genre - Indestructible is one of my favourites! (have marked down for my funeral ) ha ha, not sure if the words would fit as not heard for ages, but Here and Now by Luther Vandross is a beautful melody. You should walk down to 'isnt she lovely' by stevie wonder, as I'm sure you will be. we recently had a wedding anniversary party and spent ages doing our playlist as you can imagine after 30 years marriage (bliss??)

going in - Canon in D by Pachelbel

Me too!! But we had a church ceremony. Still played it on CD though cos it just wouldnt have translated to the organ!
I'd rather be a could-be if I cannot be an are; because a could-be is a maybe who is reaching for a star. I'd rather be a has-been than a might-have-been, by far; for a might have-been has never been, but a has was once an are – Milton Berle
