Thanks for the comments, support and suggestions. :)

I've decided to use some of my savings to pay for the gym membership outright, then I can take it out of my SOA for now. Then in 12 months time I will know whether I'm using it enough to warrant squeezing it back into my budget.

I'm also taking advantage of the 2 months without council tax/water to let the balance in my account build up a bit, so there's a buffer there in case of a higher than expected bill etc.

I've got a hair appointment today, but that's coming from the sundries budget - I only go about 4 times a year, but it's looking messy at the moment, and I'm hoping if it looks nice, it will give me a bit of a lift. :)

I'm almost back on top of the housework after feeling too ill to do any for the last couple of weeks. Just need to dust the living room, iron, and put the washing away and I will feel like I've caught up (really need to get that done today, because I'm working tomorrow and the day after, and it's so easy to feel like things are sliding out of your control again if you don't keep on top of it).

Just wish I could hear, and that my head would stop hurting!

    Aaaaaarrrrrggghhhhhhhh

Sorry for the lack of updates recently - have been battling sick kids, inept schools and brain dead companies, trying to sort my life and finances out.

The most frustrating of all is Virgin Media, who wont let me cancel the service as 'it's not in my name'. The fact that he's moved out and no longer pays for it is irrelevant - their suggestion is to just 'stop paying it and we will chase him for the money' - yeah great - we still have joint finances, so a debt collection agency being after him is JUST what I need.

Getting XOH to get around to doing anything is a nightmare - he's at work during most of their opening hours, and he's only got a mobile so ringing them and sitting on hold would cost him a fortune. The only time I'm going to be able to get him to cancel is when he's round here seeing the kids - he will have to use my phone and ring them.

    Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Coundn't you draft a letter out for him to sign and then post it off to cancel it instead?

Hope the kids are feeling better.

I could - I don't have a printer or anything any more but I guess I could hand write something and then ask him to sign it - or I might just stand over him and MAKE him phone them when he comes round tomorrow.

Both kids have had a horrible vomiting bug - both are finally on the mend, today is the first day that neither of them has vomited in nearly a fortnight. They both look pale and skinny, they're not sleeping very well, and are generally grumpy little monkeys.

I'm very relieved they are improving!

Hello Snaggles, didnt know you had this going! Just a thought on the SOA....Life Insurance, if its just a 'Term' Assurance ( with no investment value ) it may be a better protection for you and the kids to go for a 'Critical Illness' policy. Myself and Mrs P are jointly covered by Freinds Provident for only £28 per month.

    Helloooo

It's life and critical illness I think, but it just covers me and Stu - and I think it may be decreasing term assurance (or did I decide to go for level term? I forget now lol).

Once we don't have a joint mortgage I will have a look round for a new policy, but I don't think that's likely to happen until next year some time.

Our plan at the moment is for him to rent for another year, and then buy me out of this house, so I can look for something with 3 beds.

I might even move out of the area (only with Stu's blessing though), and rent somewhere to start with.

  • Matched betting god damn you woman! :)

I really don't know why more people don't do it.

I wouldn't be anywhere near where I am without it.

And I can try and give you tips on 'getting healthy' if I can. First one, eat less carbs. :D

For the kids as much as anything I guess. And Stu is a nice person, I still like and care for him a lot, so I don't want us to be constantly at each others throats (don't get me wrong, emotions are still very raw, and rows flare up - we're not perfect by any stretch of the imagination - but I think we're doing okay, generally).

I'm not from Leeds originally, I don't have family here, and I only have one really good friend here (hi Tortoise ) - I like my job, but apart from making sure the kids see their dad regularly, there is nothing much holding me here.
