Abbey £100 Bank Account
Comments

Hi - received confirmation e-mail from Abbey today:
"To qualify for the £100 incentive as well as switching your bank account to Abbey using our transfer service (which takes around 4 weeks) you will need to make 3 monthly credits of at least £1000 within the first 6 months of opening your account. Once all three credits have been made we will pay your £100 into your account within 60 days. "
Thanks for your original post, Sewerside.

I signed up too on Saturday for the £100 bank account. At the time it offered this account, high interest account and interest free overdraft account. I am still waiting for some communication from the Abbey National. Although I note that the £100 offer is not shown as being available now. Just the other two accounts. I hope that the account was still available when I signed up and it is not an oversight that is was still on their website. I was looking forward to that £100!0

Hi,
For the people that signed up to this account in Jan have you checked your statement? Mine came through the other day and I was about to shred it when I noticed that it said:
"At the date of this statement your account is in the preferred overdraft option. For all months that you credit a minimum of 1,000 pound sterling into the account you will benefit from the lower overdraft rate"
Now I definitely signed up for the £100 account online (when it was still active) but since it's not been 3 months of £1000 being credited should I be worried that it's saying I'm on the overdraft account?
What does other peoples' say?0 -
I signed up with Abbey back in December (or possibly even late November) for this offer. My 3rd monthly payment will go in in the next few days so hopefully I'll soon see if they pay up.
My account also says "At the date of this statement your account is in the preferred overdraft option. For all months that you credit a minimum of 1,000 pound sterling into the account you will benefit from the lower overdraft rate"
I've got a funny feeling, though, that they are going to try and wriggle out of paying. I moved from A&L to Abbey, but that shouldn't be a problem since it was before Santander took over A&L.
One thing is certain: I'll be closing my account as soon as the £100 is (or isn't!) paid. What sort of tin-pot bank doesn't use faster payments these days?0
