Now how many items listed that your selling is to much or to less?

    I think you meant:

How many items listed that you are selling is too many or too few?

  • I do have a number of items listed now should i remove my T&Cs now or just leave it till it runs out

I would remove them now. The bit about not being responsible for items lost in the post is likely put people off, and the whole lot of terms makes you sound quite stroppy to deal with. Sorry, I know you don't want time-wasters but you also want people to be confident in bidding.

Also be wary of the logistics of listing more than you are comfortable with - it takes time to pack and label and get to the post office - if all 60 items sold next sunday night and were paid instantly, could you cope with it?

I'm going to go against the grain with what has been said above though with regards buyers habits. If you are selling your own clothes, collectables or books for example, the chances are that a buyer that finds one of them, may well be interested in clothes the same size or style, or books of the same theme. It is definitely worth putting a link into to descriptions to "Click here to see my other items". When you create your listing there is an option to automatically insert this link.

My parents are emigrating later this year, and are listing EVERYTHING in their house - 1300 sales in the last 12 months, and many have been multiple purchases, especially in the collectables that my mum has hoarded over the years.

    I'd agree with that.

I'm more likely to look at the rest of a sellers' items if free or cheap postage is offered on multiple purchases.

A while back when I listed a load of old house-hold junk/bricabrac/clothes I started auctions at 99p. Whilst most items did indeed sell they only had one bid on them (ie it went for 99p). I then started listings items with a start price of £1.99 and found that I sold the same amount of stuff but still with only one bid on. This meant that I was getting double ie £1.99 rather than 99p. The point is if someone is going to buy then bidding the extra £1 won;t trouble them and you're pocketing double the cash.

  • And 'failure to complete transaction' won't result in Negative Feedback as sellers can no longer leave this.
  • Having only recently started buying a few things on ebay, can I make the following suggestions?
1 I usually have a "total" figure I am prepared to pay, item+postage. I now have some idea of what constitutes a reasonable figure for postage, and since it adds nothing to the value of said items postage costs are regular nonos for me. Don't try to make loads of profit on postage (2nd class is ok) and don't start with 99p if you think it is worth more - I will be the one to benefit.
2 Put a good picture in the listing - and be accurate on condition and size.

What really moves me on is no postage figure given on the listing - so do your homework.

Also make use of the completed items facility, check the previous sales of similar items before you bother listing them.

Could somebody please tell me how to find this, it sounds very useful, thanks

  • I found it today!
When you have done a search, the boxes down the left show preferences, and "completed listings" is in "preferences, search options"
