I made a large fish pie few months back and took it out of the freezer this morning for our dinner. It is no where near defrosted and as we need to eat in the next couple of hours - wondering if I can cook from semi-defrosted. What temp? Any advice most gratefully received !!
    xx:confused:

"Actively" defrosting it in the microwave might be an idea.

In any event, as long as it is cooked thoroughly, any possible "bugs" will also be cooked thoroughly.

Thanks - unfortunately the microwave is not an option as the dish is too big. So I'll have to chance it I guess with cooking directly in the oven ! Fingers crossed.
    Thanks for your advice

Yes, cook it straight through and make sure it's hot.
Supermarket ones are 'best cooked from frozen'.

Poach the frozen fish in milk or white wine, then use the liquid to make the sauce.

I love fish pie, make it as the others have said cooking the fish first, I always add some broccilli (small sprigs) and some sweet corn, gives it a bit of colour, you could always sprinkle cheese on top and brown under the grill ....
