Hi, I save money on buying gluten free biscuits by making my own, They taste and have the texture of fox's crinkle crunch and are yummy.
adapted from Peg Bracken cook book
Wooky Cooky Biscuits (makes about 16 - 18 large biscuits)
7oz margerine
7 oz plain doves farm flour
7 oz caster sugar
1/2 teaspoon bicarbonate soda
1/2 teaspoon gluten free baking powder
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1/2 cup Rice Crispies not crushed (or omit nuts and make this 1 cup of crispies)
1 teaspoon vanilla essence
Cream marg and sugar together. Then without sifting anything, add all the rest and mix well. Cool mix in the fridge for about an hour then put small balls on a greased baking tray and press down with a fork. Leave them spaced apart as they tend to spread out. Bake at 170 for 10 to 15 mins then remove from baking tray when they have cooled down and gone crisp.0 -
I spend between £5-£10 per week on food for me and my 3 year old son. Though I've now got £6 in my account to last until payday, having spent £20 on food last week, which was the first spend since the last week of March. And just under half a tank of petrol which fingers crossed will last the month or I won't be able to get to work anyway!
We might not eat well but at least we eat. I can't imagine having £300 a month to spend on food!0 -
When my sister was suspected of being coeliac, the doctor told her to follow a gluten free diet immediately.
She then had the tests which confirmed her as coeliac.
Change your doctor.
That aside, as a family of 6( 2 adults, 14 year old, 6 year old and twins of 2) I spend an average of £140 per week on groceries.0 -
My budget for a month is £100 on my own.
Over the last 5 months it averages at £73.52 per month.
I buy Tesco Value and Tesco brand items mostly.0 -
How do you guys all do it?! I'm £40 a week on ave just for me and 10yr old daughter (who eats constantly it must be said).

I'm vegetarian, daughter isn't but depending on what eve meal is its sometimes easier to give her veggie than meat. I also have ocd so a fair amount goes on cleaning products.

Can I just clarify you buy 5-7 cans of Dettol spray a week? If so at £2 a shot (on Asda rollback) that accounts for over £10 a week. I understand about your OCD, but that is where your extra money is going. Have you been to your GP? In the meantime have you looked into cheaper alternatives?0 -
Well for 2 adults our shop comes to £30-£35 a week, although we could easily shave another £5 off this if we didnt buy a weekly bottle of wine....Our weekly shop includes lunches too but its easier for us as OH works nearby so eats at home anyway.
Some weeks it does tend to be a bit more expensive than others as we tend to bulk buy particular products on offer - ie 3 packs of sausages for £6 would last us 3 weeks but usually its less than £40 even then.MFW 2020 #111 Offset Balance £69,394.80/ £69,595.11

Man! I'm in london and all there are are Sainbury's Locals and Tesco Express which charge a massive premium for being in a metropolitan area. On top of that premium, only the most expensive type of own-brand goods are stocked - like finest for example. I probably spend at least 200 a month.0

However you have some wonderful markets that I can only dream about!0 -
RE the OCD the use of spray is a lot less than i used to use! I am receiving treatment already. I get it at tesco which currently have it for £2 but its normally around £3.0
