There are 2 adults and we spend about £90 a week not including booze but including £5-£10 worth of cat food.
We shop at Waitrose and are very happy with it. We buy organic, free range meat etc, loads of veg and cook almost everything from scratch. We eat very well. This does not include 2 days' dinners a week but it does include expensive bread for me as I can't eat gluten so we never buy pasta or things like that.0 -
There are 4 of us (2 adults, a 3.5 year old and a 2.5 year old) and we spend between £120 - £140 a week. This includes all nappies, toiletries etc. I'm trying to get it down as it seems an exhorbitant amount!CC debt: £0/£9 0000

Hi, 6 of us and i spend £100 a week, kids aged 16,14, 10 and 70

It used to be a bad week if my grocery shop was over £100 a week for the four of us (Myself, Hubby, 14 year old and 11 year old sons, who eat more than I do). Now it is around £120-140. I'm not buying anything different, so prices have gone through the roof. In fact, I'm buying less as Hubby now gets cleaning/laundry stuff from work very cheaply.
It seems that the more I try to cut down the more I end up spending. In the last 10 days I've gone to Aldi, Tesco, Makro and done an Approved Food shop. My freezers and cupboards are bulging, but I will still need to shop for lunchbox stuff and fruit and veg.0 -
I allow myself £30 per week and always have some left over. But that allows for the weeks when I may run out of things and need extra. But at the end of the month whats left over goes into my holiday fund I live alone so there is only me to cater for0

I used to do that 3/4 years ago for 3 adults sometimes 4(DS was a student in his own flat) or 5 if DD's BF was with us. Didn't matter then, I had a well paid job.
Now I don't work and we are living on 1/3 of our income (and I'm happier:D)
The grocery challenge and this forum showed me where I frittered money and what poor value I was getting.
Now I spend £250pm, thats to feed and provide all toiletries, cleaning stuff ie star drops and vinegar for 4 adults (ds is now unemployed) and sometimes 5.
We eat better than we did before and I'm spending 1/2 of what I used to.
When I think of the money I wasted on over processed and over priced food over the years...:o0 -
Food alone - non-supermarket shopping done today so can be precise! £13 in butcher for shoulder of lamb and a 1/2 kilo of belly pork, £11 in greengrocers for all veg and fruit needed for week. will probably need around £15 worth of stuff from supermarket inc cat and dog food. So, allowing for a few bits of extras during the week around £40. Two adults, one ten yr old with hollow legs who has packed lunches, two cats and one biggish dog, plus visiting adult daughter, and various other mouths that wander in and out!0

It averages out to about £50 per week, for two adults and one dog. We are trying to cut down, but we eat meat pretty much every night, which tends to add up.marlasinger0

Ours was about £40/week this time last year, jumped up for a bit (started shopping more in Tesco!) but now is back down to about £45 ish a week, and budgetting £40/wk this month. I am now shopping in Lidl mainly, local butchers and the odd thing from Tesco/Coop/small local shops. I am getting back into baking, making loaves and the like, don't grow my own due to dodgy back!
Two adults and 1 toddler and 1 cat!Ermutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.
