Virgin Media

Not sure if this is in the right place or not but...

At the moment I have SKY+ with SkySports and SKY internet for £45 a month. But as I have SKY+ I had to have a BT phone connection for it to work so I pay £12 as month line rental too - £57 a month in total.

Anyone I'm moving in a few months and the other week had a letter from SKY saying their putting prices up another fiver a month so I might sack them off and go with Virgin when I move, but I've a couple of questions:

Am I right in thinking Virgin Media doesn't require a phoneline at all for TV or internet?

I've looked on the Virgin site but its all a bit confusing - could anyone give me a rough estimate on the monthly charge for Virgin+ with SkySports package and 10MB broadband.

Finally, what's the service and reliablity like from Virgin?

I can confirm that vrigin TV doesn't require a phone line as I've had mine fitted recently. Can't really comment on their TV service as I've only had it a week but their BB has been trouble free for me for years.

Their TV service isn't bad, but compared to Sky's interactive services, it is lacking a bit.
  • Cant help with the Virgin question but just wanted to say that I have Sky+ and dont have a phone line at all.

Sky+ works fine without the phone line connection, it's just one of their requirements when they install your system. once out that door, disconnect!

Virgin internet comes on either cable or phone line. Are you in a cable enabled area?
  • Not sure if this is 100% relevant here but I called Virgin yesterday as my combined bill was £96 before any calls. Told them I am switching and they reduced it to £74 :)
