Hi everyone, hope you all had a good weekend, wasn't the weather brilliant on Saturday, spent all day out in the Garden, repaired the Greenhouse, dug over new Veg patch, cut down loads and did a general tidy around and got some Seeds in at last.:j A bit cooler today and I've got some tidying to do indoors but hoping to spend tomorrow out in the Garden again as I still have loads of seeds I want to start. Hi everyone, the weekend was fabulous we spent both days in the garden. My OH dug over the area that i have used for veg and cleared all the grass and weeds. He then constructed two raised beds from some decking someone had freecycled! They look fantastic and i have planted out some shallots and have put all my herbs into their own little bed, out of their pots.
we also cleared the garden of lots of rubbish and went to the tip on saturday. We both felt very happy last night and i am sooo excited about this years veg growing, bring on spring
I will try and post some pics on here, if i can work out how?Leopardlady

I've just finished reading this thread between making/eating/cleaning up after tea and I think it's given me the kick up the behind that I've been needing I've got some tatty seeds on the window sill... too many but I've managed to convince a few family members to take some off my hands and have a go at growing too I've got some tatty seeds on the window sill... too many but I've managed to convince a few family members to take some off my hands and have a go at growing too Just need some pots now and compost. Just need some pots now and compost.
I was hoping to make a couple of small raised beds but don't think I'll have time this year. Got some other seeds... lettuce, tomatoe, carrots and some herbs and sunflowers (sunflowers, the only thing I have grown from seed before)
You've all inspired me to actually get on with this and see how it goes, thankyou I know it's something I'll enjoy when I get stuck in I know it's something I'll enjoy when I get stuck in I'm looking forward to reading more about your gardens and how your growing is going  Even if you stumble, you're still moving forward.0 I'm looking forward to reading more about your gardens and how your growing is going  Even if you stumble, you're still moving forward.0

            Hi everyone,
Good to hear how everyone is getting on...
I've had to reign myself in a bit this week otherwise I'll have far too much stuff too soon!:D My radish and lettuce are sprouting on my window sill as are spring onions that were in a cupboard but are now on the kitchen worktop! There's signs of life in my herbs I think it's parsley but it might be basil!! I can't remember what I planted where now:rolleyes: . Needs some sticks to write on.
No sign of anything coming up in the garden yet but it's only been a week, lol.
I had to occupy myself with tidying the front garden instead of planting more veg!
I've (well my dad did it really:p !!!) made a chicken coop from an old shed so I might paint that this week and I thnk I need to make a run to keep em off the veg so that's another job. Maybe I won't be planting again for a while after all:rotfl: !!!

Thanks for the tip morganb. I've been wondering what to use for labelling my plants. What do others else use for plant labels?0

Well i have planted out my herbs into my new herb bed and i have planted my first row of shallots. I am hoping to get out in a few minutes to plant some garlic, then i should be done with the planting for a little while.
I am hoping to put in some potatoes later too.
I have planted some dwarf runner beans, climbing beans and peas and also some carrot seeds. These are now in my plastic tower, i just have to remember to keep them watered, i can be a little bit neglectful of the tower.
I am so excited by my garden again now, thanks to my gorgeous hubby and all his work last weekend. It is great, and with this thread to help me keep up with the work, i hope to have a wonderful crop this year.Leopardlady

So glad everyone is making so much progress. Hasn't the weather been great? I can't believe the difference.
I've had a full day out there today, got a loads of potatoes in tubs, rest of onions are in and all of garlic. My peas are just starting to shoot through the compost so they should be in the ground in the next couple of weeks. I have dug over the beds which are ready for the sprouts, cauli, brocolli and cabbage to go out. I also have tomatoes, peppers and nasturtiums in my bedroom window and am going to start courgettes as soon as I get the chance. Was given more onion sets and another bag full of seed packets yesterday but i'm running short on space, once I plant out everthing I have it's going to be full. I'm praying for the allotment to come up soon! My strawberries have taken really well and the rhubarb has just started to shoot through.
As for the question about labels, I save lolly pop sticks that the boys have hd plus I have a load of plastic ones you write on with pencil that I had donated.
I think it will be photo time again soon, watch this space!!Debt busting! Jan 2014 £7632.50 £7445.80
