Hi guys,
I've just got a Virgin Media broadband connection installed at 20Mb and wanted to take advantage of this and heard that Usenet is the way forward. I'm familiar with torrents but they seem to go very slowly (I think virgin have limited access to torrents) so I thought I'd try newsgroups. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I was thinking of trying giganews.
Thanks!

Giganews in one of the best servers about, but pricey. I just signed up to Astraweb last month on their 11 dollars a month special offer plan. Been happy with them.Smoke-Free since 15/11/08

http://www.news.astraweb.com/specials/kleverig-11.html very good deal
But as DatabaseError says VM has a lot of throttling during the day
also VM have their own newsgroup access too I think but limited to 7 days retention0 -
Xennews is as good as giganews but cheaper. I use xennews.0

I use giganews and newzbin to source nzbs.
I also recommend http://www.sabnzbd.org/ as your download tool.
My set up consists of Giganews > Newzbin > AppleTV+ Boxee (Boxee.tv) > USB Hard Drive > TV
It is superb!David James aint got nothing on me0 -

I've reached the point where I can no longer justify NOT having newsgroup access.
