Halifax online overdraft - strange behaviour!

I thought I'd click on the Apply/change overdraft button today, and it told me my current limit was £1,400 and my 'guaranteed overdraft available now' was also £1,400. I typed in I wanted to reduce it to £1,000 and submitted it, which it accepted. However, it now proclaims they are happy to give me £2,250 if I wish!

So, ask to reduce overdraft by £400 = offer to increase it by £850.

Not that easy - I don't think many people wanting to increase their overdraft would think of decreasing it first to get extra!

Perhaps the act of reducing my limit pushed up my internal credit score? Only think I can think of.

I wish I understood how it works.

My offer has gone from £1500 to £4000 to £0 in the last 2 months.

It now seems they have redesignated my account to a standard current account (lower credit interest and higher overdraft interest), which may have something to do with it. The plot thickens!

Doesn't seem unreasonable - presumably they went bankrupt one week then won a sizeable amount on the lottery the next?
