Good Deal through Orange/Phone4U - 02 contract buyout

Hey, just thought I'd post my experience up as it may help others trying to negotiate!

I have 4 months left on my o2 contract (£35 per month 600 any time x-nw mins 500 texts)

Phones4U called me (gave them my number as part of a competition entry) and asked if they could search for a better deal for me.

My stipulations were that I would like a cheaper tariff but similar calls/texts, and a pretty phone with good music facility and camera.

He found me a W595 (which is the one I like best, yay!) on Orange for £30 a month, and offered to buy me out of the remainder of my O2 contract. (this does involve me reducing down a level on O2 a month for the next 4 months, but this only involves a free phonecall once a month, so I can put up with that)

I then found the same offer & handset on Orange website for £5 a month cheaper, and a cashback offer on dialaphone which would also work out cheaper, so phoned Phones4u back to see if they would match it, which they did - they're sending me a cheque for the difference.

Hurrah!! :D :j :T

I'm not normally so cheeky with stuff, but I thought there's nothing to lose here and it worked! It's true, if you don't ask, you don't get!

O2 called me this morning to try to keep me, and they said they would offer me the W595 for £50 and charge me £35 a month for more minutes (which I don't need) and seemed surprised when I said no thanks! I explained the P4U deal and they couldn't match it. Byesy-Byes to O2!!
