HI
My husband went self employed a while back because he needed a change of career following a heart attack. I had this brilliant idea that i would set him up a website for some extra advertising. I work with microsoft office so it wasnt too hard using Front Page & the first little attempt doesnt look bad. Following the advice of someone from here i bought a domain ( i think) from a company called 1 & 1. Launching your website with them is supposed to be so easy the cat could do it. Unfortuantely this must leave me with the brain the size of a small fluffy animal because I really cant work out what to do next. I have my nice but fairly amateurish website & i have my domain but how do i get one to the other. I cant understand the 1 & 1 help, i have e mailed them for guidance but they dont even seem to be looking at the same site as me. Has anyone launched a website with 1 & 1 please, was it hard or a just a dunce (dont feel you necessarily need to answer that!) and any tips to get me back on the right road, please.
many, many thanks

from the site you need "webspace Explorer" to upload your site from your computer, or use an FTP program like filezilla (FREE) to upload it direct
Web space 800 MB
FTP access accounts 5
Unlimited Domain Handling/multiple Site Handling
Monthly Traffic included 10 GB
1&1 Control Panel
1&1 WebspaceExplorer
Manage Your Web Space via a Browser with 1&1 Webspace Explorer
Whilst most website owners require an FTP program in order to access their web space, 1&1 has a further, convenient facility which allows you to manage files over an Internet browser via your 1&1 Control Panel – new 1&1 Webspace Explorer!
Manage Your Files with Ease
Managing files with 1&1 Webspace Explorer couldn’t be easier, it works in the same way as an Internet Explorer window, with no additional software to install.
1&1 Webspace Explorer Features- Upload and download files

I don't have an FTP Program, how can I get my web site onto the Internet?
One of the most common calls to Technical Support is about how to get your web site from your computer onto your 1&1 web space. The Most common method is to use an ftp program such as Wise or WS-FTP. However you can use Internet Explorer.
All you will need is 3 bits of information:
1. Your Host Name (this is normally your domain name)
2. Your FTP Username
3. Your FTP Password.Tip:- You can find the FTP Username and Password in the Accounts section of the OneAndOne Control panel.
To Use Microsoft Internet Explorer as your ftp program all you need to do is the following:
1. Find out your FTP Username and Password
2. Open Microsoft Internet Explorer
3. In the Address Bar type in the following:
ftp://ftpUsername@yourdomainname.co.uk
4. Then when prompted your password.
This will give you full access to your OneAndOne web space to upload files from any computer that is connected to the internet.Tip :- If you tick the Save Password box you will never have to type it in again on that computer!
Also note that we now have the 1&1 WebSpace Explorer on newer hosting packages, this can be found in your 1&1 Control PanelEx forum ambassador

Don't forget you need to type ftp:// then your u number which can be found in your 1&1 control panel, then @ then your domain name then the tld (e.g. .co.uk)
If you don't type the ftp:// then it won't work.0 -
If you need to call 1&1, avoid their rip-off 0870 number and use a geographical number listed on Say no to 0870 here.0

you should just upload it and it should go "live" when you type in the Domain name
if you have no luck with that then try Filezilla

if you've only just bought the domain name then the DNS servers might not be updated yet and you'll need to do ftp://IP.Address.of.site.com instead of the domain name.0

Just remeber that you will need a site that supports Front Page Extensions
or Forms and Dynamic Content wont work or Will but not properly.0
