  • Rang west brom today, they said that the application was sent back to me as I needed to show ID, on the 22nd... of course, I haven't received this yet. What did they send it on? third class?

ya know, it doesnt matter where i go, i;ve always had to fill out online forms, they send forms and then i sign and return.

worst was intelligent finance (easy to use but hard to apply).

basically as above, applied online, they sent me a back and i had to complete and return with an authorised copy of my passport - was told by IF to go to local BoS branch and get a signed copy of passport - and the teller refused to do it. went back later and she again refused and then called her manager to confirm if she could do it (what an !!!!).

but still, a lot of messing about when i already bank with HBoS to go through that rigmaroll.

Thanks for that recommendation. It's always reassuring to hear about good and efficient customer service in the financial services area. Sadly it's all too rare these days.
  • Update to my waiting game:

on Thursday 15th Jan, sent out application for Cheshire BS's 2 year fixed rate bond, and West Bromwich Ebond15.

On Friday 16th Jan, sent out application for fixed rate capped bond issue 7 with Northern Rock.

By Tuesday 20th, received the bond certificate for NR bond, and cash cleared out of my account.

Heard from Cheshire on friday 23rd, asking for ID, so took the ID to my local branch on Saturday 24th.

Heard from West Brom BS (at last!) on Wednesday 28th asking for ID, so took that to the nearest branch.

The money for cheshire and west brom are still sitting there... losing interest on it!!
  • YBS is variable. I tried to open their internet saver account online but they asked me to send 3 types of ID by post even though I already have a regular saver account which I gave the number of and they have had all my details and documents before - nothing has changed.

Did you not try to telephone them to ask them why?

First Save has been the most efficient of all the applications I've made.

Fill in the online form, they check your ID using your driving licence or passport number, they tell you the day they will withdraw the money at the end of the application. Next day you receive your username through the post. Easy peasy.

Plus you can register for tax exemption online as part of the application; you don't need to send the signed R85 form in as nearly always required.
  • rang customer service for both Cheshire and West Brom... Cheshire "lost" my ID but now found it so it'll be looked into this week, and West brom haven't even processed my ID, nor my 2nd application (they have "no record" of the 2nd one).

In the mean time, I managed to apply for Halifax bond on monday, money went out this morning.

    The saga continues...
