In an ideal world - she could get it out of an ATM while abroad using a Nationwide flex card if you have one and trust her not to withdraw like crazy.

Best suggestion so far. Using any of the exchanges mentioned will be more expensive even if they claim no commission. They just give you a poorer rate then if they charged commission. N/W card at ATM gives that day's bank rate - not the tourist rate of the others.
  • Thanks for the compliment!
  • yes i can't see why anyone would buy currency before you travel, ok maybe £50 worth to get you to the hotel, first night etc, but really the best way is always using nationwide flex from an atm in the country - you get SIGNIFICANTLY better rates

Wherever you get your Euros from, pay with CASH not debit card.

Most banks will charge you a forex transaction fee (eg £4.50 Barclays) if you get foreign currency from anywhere other than your own bank!!!
