Help - pulses in the SC

Options
We got our SC 15 years ago as a wedding present and I used it a couple of times then and since only to do mulled wine at Xmas. Having read all the ravings about SC's I've dragged it out to cook some chick peas but can't find the instructions! Chick peas have been soaked overnight - any ideas how long I need to cook them for in the SC. (It's a Tower 3L pot and has high, low and auto settings). Usually do them in a pan but hoping the sc will mean I don't have to check them every 5 minutes!!

Thanks for your help - I've searched the site for this but can't find anything so sorry if the answer is already out there.

Thanks Kiwichick - actually I'd already tried the sticky but I can't seem to find the answer in there. I'm thinking I still need to boil rapidly in a saucepan so probably the sc isn't the answer in this case. I want to make houmous so they just need cooking off.

I think they need a rapid boil for 20 mins so are better in a pot on the hob.

I haven't tried chick peas in my SC yet, so can't say how long they'd take, I'd put them on to cook & keep testing till they're soft enough

but if it's the problem with toxins in dried pulses you're worried about, the only two that need the 10 minute rapid boil are red kidney beans & soya beans, all the others can be safely cooked by just simmering after the usual overnight soaking :)

For mulled wine I usually chuck about 2 bottles of red wine in the sc together with a carton of oj, some chopped fruit, a couple of cinnmon sticks and a handful of cloves. It's usually ready after about 40 minutes and then I just leave it to keep mulling. YUM
