  • An update

I am really pi**ed off now with the builder. He hasn't turned up at all during the week even when the B.C. officer came. Today he came to ask for his 4th installment. However the foundation trenches haven't even been approved. I was told that they would be filled by last Thursday. I refused to give payment and now they have disappeared. The builder said that he needs to pay his workers wages. I am in a dilema of what to do?

Hmm,. why should you pay his workers wages when the job hasnt been completed to your satisfaction.

I never saw that programme, just the trails and I thought both of the builders looked pretty hopeless. Wasnt the polish one the guy who measured the trenches wrongly?

So, to sum up - what have they actually completed so far and how much have you paid them? Does this builder belong to a professional association?
  • Dont pay him, thats my opinion. Its clear he is not fullfilling his part of the job. If i plastered half a room then asked for some money i would be told to jog on. Why not say that "you will get paid when you have done the jobs you said would be done". Hope you get it sorted.

Yes it was! His workmanship was good on the final build minus a few snagging issues which are to be expected. However I have just had a meeting with the boss (guy on tv) as he had given the work to "one of his guys" he was also not happy and was very co-operative. He has told us not to give anymore money and he will put things right. He will be coming on Wednesday with a new team of guys so we shall see. Will keep you posted with my trials and tribulations :-)

That sounds interesting - almost as thought the builder is cashing in on his relatively good publicity and simply using teams of subbies to do the job !
