    Pollycat offered some good advice.

    You could also try other online vendors;

    http://www.whiteflash.com
    http://www.goodoldgold.com
    http://www.Jamesallen.com

You might like to start your diamond education at; http://www.pricescope.com

Its a great site I used when I first started my search for a diamond.

Most of the vendors are using high quality stones in eternity rings that you don't normally find in retail shops.

Thank you all for the excellent advice. We have decided to give the Argos ring a miss, and will look round some of our local jewellers to get a feel for the rings / diamonds. I quite like the idea of a second hand ring, if we can find a nice one. I know of a couple of good independant jewellers that do second hand ones so will have lots of fun looking!Once again thank you for all the help. I obviously need to get some more education on diamonds!!Jog

If you are planning a holiday to Turkey you could get one made.
My sister had a (replacement) engagement ring (shes lost a few over the years) made in a jewellers in Olu Deniz (Royal was in the shop name), she told him what size band she liked, what sort of mount she liked & picked a diamond, it was made for her in a day & was £350 (ish), beautiful ring.

I spend many hours on the site. Which forum did you enjoy the most.

  • I always get my diamonds and gold jewelry from Gibraltar. Great fun to build it into a little jolly. It's just over an hr drive from Malaga airport. Most of the jewelers will let you wear it away and post the documents home or you take them and post them to yourself. You can chose the settings and have adjustments done in as long as it takes you to eat your lunch. Gibraltar does have its own airport, but not many airlines use it yet.
    Happy shopping.

To be honest, I'd not seen this site until you gave the link yesterday.
I just had a quick look and added to my favourites for a closer look at a later time.

I notice that it mentions Rapaport.
I have a jeweller friend in India and he uses the diamonds.net site. I had a look but you need to join.

    Regards

You will be looking at over £2000 for a good quality five stone 1crt diamond ring.

    www.goldsmiths.co.uk/diamondrings
No you won't. You WILL at goldsmiths but in the birmingham jewellery quarter or at Hatton Garden in London you will save yourself a load and get something of very high quality (in regards to the 4Cs and manufacture of the setting)

Also try QVC uk, they quite often have some nice pieces at good prices and the quality is really good too.

What is your definition of good quality!?

The Jewellery Quarter is in Hockley, Birmingham - about 5 minutes from the City Centre (by car):
    http://www.birmingham-jewellery-quarter.net/

    Hope that helps :)
Would highly recommend visiting there or Hatton Garden. Alternatively there are websites such as blue nile where you can get diamonds are good prices too :)
