Bankruptcy looming

Spoke to cccs today at 1.45pm
Never stopped crying since (man of 37)
My income is the same as my household outgoings live in my partners house
So the lovely lady told me i could make a token payment of £1 but would still get hounded by my creditors for years and they probably wouldnt accept that anyway
Tried to build up a small business for the past 3 years but failed miserably
CCCS told me my best option would be to file for bankruptcy and i could get seen as early as next week
Alone,confused and so depressed

Alone - not any more, there are plenty of people in similar circumstances to you on this board that you can get support from
Confused - plenty of great advice within these threads and I'm sure the CCCS are able to further help you
Depressed - you've made the first step which although may seem hard will eventually make things better, if you are very depressed and need someone to talk to then, without burdening friends and family, the Samaritans are always on the end of the phone
Good luck anyway, I'm not in exactly the same boat but have just taken the plunge and have my court date next Monday.0 -

When did you apply for your date if you dont mind me asking0 -
Hi.

I just want to echo the sentiments on this thread and your one on DFW.
This is a hard thing to go through, but the support is here to help you cope.
Sounds daft, but sometimes it takes a stronger person to just see when this is something you need to do. People like Branson and Alan Sugar (and many more) have done it and not looked back.
Put the effort now into getting things sorted, and believe me you will feel better. Take a look at a few posts/thread from Richard_S.

I thought i would feel better after talking to cccs but the realisation sinks in and im thinking all sorts like
what if the OR thinks i frittered away the money(but i used it to try to keep the business afloat)
What if the judge thinks i was a fool
So many things going through my head and no-one to talk too partner working away mon-fri every week
So scared

If you are insolvent, then the judge will just make the bankruptcy order. Doesn't matter in the slightest what their opinion is.
If you tried to stay afloat, then the OR will understand that as well.
Bankruptcy is a way to deal with a situation. It is not a punishment for those that have tried.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

I called my local court this afternoon and had my appointment of next Monday morning offered. I understand from reading this forum though that different courts have different waiting times so I don't think it's something you can apply across the board.
As for your second post, I don't think the judge will think you are a fool, they are a judge by name and not necessarily by nature. It's perhaps more foolish to bury your head in the sand, at least by doing something pro-active you are attempting to secure a better life for the future. In any case, you're not likely to meet the judge again, and I doubt they are part of your social circle, so there's no real need to worry what someone in a stupid wig does or doesn't think of you.0 -
I looked at the forms online started to fill them in but gave up not in the frame of mind to do it
I hope the manchester courts can deal with it quickly

Have you phoned the court?
Each County Court can do things a little differently. It is best to give them a call to find out how long and how they do things.
It's odd, but even things like how many copies of the form you need to bring can differ.

Yes. It's not something you want to rush. I was actually offered an appointment tomorrow morning at 9am. I want to be as prepared as possible and not un-necessarily flustered as, quite obviously considering the situation, I am already stressed. So I took the Monday appointment. Will spend the next couple of days re-reading the advice and suggestions on MSE. And will then calmly fill in the forms over the weekend.
Give Manchester a call in the morning just to perhaps see what the situation is.. if it's a long wait you should book a date now which I assume you could always cancel if your circumstances change. If it's a short waiting time then just say you will ring back to confirm a date.0 -
Hi Pockettmoney
Do you have assets involved if you dont mind me asking
As i have no assets whatsoever it may be a case of me doing mine as quickly as poss
Although i will need to go over the forms with cccs as they confused me0
