Ok turns out I have been given a 'funny' sort code by halifax namely - 11-49-43

Stuck this into the UK payments administrations site and got this

    Bank Unknown
Faster Payments cannot be sent to this sort code.
Bacs Credit payments can be sent to this sort code.
Bacs Direct Debits can be set up on this sort code.
CHAPS Payments cannot be sent to this sort code.
Eligible for Cheque & Credit Clearing.

I'd definitely have a word with Halifax about that. The sort codes that were allocated to my three Reward Current Accounts (four including my joint account), although applied for online, are for a local branch of Halifax. Don't know if anyone on here knows what the sort code is that you've been allocated?

Mine have always gone by FP from any of my Vantage accounts to any of my Reward accounts and vice versa - don't know why yours doesn't.

    Using the checker at http://www.postcodeanywhere.co.uk/demos/bankvalidator.aspx

    Gives "Halifax Specialist Banking"

OH wants to take out an ns&i IL Saving Cert, however, the funds are currently in LTSB, for which they don't have a debit card, so they need to transfer £15K over to Halifax from LTSB, from 3 Vantage accounts.

Does anyone know what the daily limit is with LTSB FP, and is it per person or per account, please?

  • Citibank can now accept faster payments (inwards) according to the sort code checker

Some banks are attempting to send faster payments to that sort code now

I suppose here is the right place to remind people that Halifax Faster Payments now appear to be sat on the Lloyds TSB systems and working far more effectively and reliably than before.

"From 1st January 2012 we will be processing your payments using the Faster Payments Service. This is available for all standing orders and bill payments where your account allows you to make these types of transactions. This will usually mean that payments to and from your account will go through the same day or, if not, then before the end of the next working day, making it easier for you to avoid late payment and overdraft charges."
