Got a reply from the coventry, completely different answer to the last time. Amazing what quoting a bit of EU legislation can do.

    Thank you for your message.

Yes, but their actual payment service will be more like '8 hours a day, 252 days a year....'
.....under construction.... COVID is a [discontinued] scam

Any idea why I cannot send a faster payment from my lloyds classic vantage current account to my halifax reward account?

It always goes BACS. I phoned lloyds telephone banking and got the incredibly helpful answer of faster payments is only available when its available. Asked the welshman 6 times what he meant and whether there was anyway to get faster payments between my accounts but kept on getting the same silly answer.

    any suggestions?

Mine have always gone by FP from any of my Vantage accounts to any of my Reward accounts and vice versa - don't know why yours doesn't.

I made a successful FP from LTSB to Halifax this afternoon. Perhaps just try again later?

Ive had the lloyds account 12 years and the halifax 3 months. Ive sent 7 payments evenly spaced so far and they've always gone bacs.

    annoying!

Forgive me if this sounds like a stupid question, but when you attempt to send by FP, do you select "send as soon as possible" option, or do you select a date?

Always select send as soon as possible. Then the next page tells me a date usually the next day when it will leave my account.

I understand the idea behind faster payments. My tesco credit card goes via faster payments, my nationwide credit card does not.

Just find it wierd that a lloyds to halifax does not go faster payment.

It does sound strange that they never go by FP. There must be a gremlin somewhere!

Ok turns out I have been given a 'funny' sort code by halifax namely - 11-49-43

Stuck this into the UK payments administrations site and got this

    Bank Unknown
Faster Payments cannot be sent to this sort code.
Bacs Credit payments can be sent to this sort code.
Bacs Direct Debits can be set up on this sort code.
CHAPS Payments cannot be sent to this sort code.
Eligible for Cheque & Credit Clearing.
