Virgin rang to offer me things for free?

This afternoon a man called Neil rang from Virgin rang to say that virgin are now offering the same deals as new customers get to existing customers. At present I have the L broadband package (10mb) and thats it for £18. He told me that if i pay a £30 installation charge I can have a tv box of some sort and a phone line with free weekend landline calls, these services are free forever apparantly. Is this correct? Sounds a bit too good to be true!

Imagine the TV box is like their freeview one. And u always get free weekend calls to landlines with any package iirc, doesn't say anything about line rental? Would find out about that first tbh.

I suspected there might be a catch, line rental is a good suggestion. I will recheck everything. Thank you both :)
  • I just called Virgin to cancel my phone, (which I never use) the M broadband and basic tv package, which I've had for years at £42 a month. If I lose a few channels, keep the phone with free uk landline calls at weekends, and the same broadband package, the cost will now be £21 inc vat. (12 months)
I wish I'd done this sooner.

  • I dont know if anyone else has had the same problem, earlier this month I changed over to Virgin for telephone and TV but not broadband as I have o2 on an 18 month contract and they are very good.Virgin did not tell me that no one elses broadband will work with their telephone lines so I was left sans broadband, I quickly contacted Virgin and also BT who agreed to take me back so I have recovered my broadband but I feel it is important that VIRGIN should tell you at the time, even the engineer who installed it didnt say anything and he knew I had o2 ,it has cost me 3 weeks without broadband and 23 pounds to get out of virgin .
