I have a booking with one of their hotels which i booked through expedia at the beginning of january, i used a visa debit card to pay.
What are my chances of getting a refund from expedia or should i contact the hotel concerned.
Does anyone have any advice, as i am at a loss on what to do.
So far expedia have not been in touch or the hotel either. All the groups corporate websites say nothing either about their entering administration.

I believe Visa Debit cards are covered whereas Maestro cards are not.0

You should get it back from VISA, even though its not a credit card.
The administrator might honour the booking because he hopes to make a profit out of you in the restaurant and bar?
Check it out and iof its bad news, see if VISA can still do a charge back.
Let us know how you get on.0 -
It should be noted that as stated in that BBC article, they only own Purple Hotels and Stop Inns.
The others are operated under license, if you are booked with one of these you may fine if it's run by another company.0 -
Interesting I wonder how Travel Lodge and Premier are faring in this climate then?
They must have huge loans that will need servicing and rolling over from time to time......0 -
I read pretty recently that travellodge were booming, as their 9 quid a night offer really appealed when needed and lots of business travellers now downgrading to travellodge instead of hilton et al:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
Yes I imagined the offer went down a storm.I read pretty recently that travellodge were booming, as their 9 quid a night offer really appealed when needed and lots of business travellers now downgrading to travellodge instead of hilton et al
Trouble is there probably isn't much profit in a £9 a night room? I also read these were for rooms that would have stayed empty anyway (unpopular midweek nights in obscure places). Anything that had a hint of selling at the usual rate (about £55 I think) was not reduced.0 -
I do think there is a certain amount of smoke and mirrors with Travelodge, I did hear from a source they had or were making some redundancies not sure how accurate that is.The futures bright the future is Ginger0

My boyfriend does freelance marketing for the Real Hotel Company, they owe him a fair bit of money. Does anyone know what are the chances of payment for him? Presumably banks, utility companies and hotel staff would be paid first? Thanks0

If hotels weren't so expensive more people might have used them. I would have, but when a room costs £50-120/night per person they can forget it.
I'm going to a wedding this year, I can stay at the hotel where it is for £120-150/night, or I can get a £10 taxi a mile up the road and stay in a sort of B&B for £28.0 -
The bank may well have secured their debt against the property or by a floating charge against the movable assets. My boyfriend does freelance marketing for the Real Hotel Company, they owe him a fair bit of money. Ordinary "trade" creditors are usually at the back of the queue, behind the government and the staff. Could be a long wait to get the pence in the pound settlement.
(In theory, suppliers with the right terms and conditions can snatch back their supplies if they are still unused).
BBC Radio 4 has an interesting programme on administrations like this next Sunday at 17:00 hrs.
