Real Hotel Group in Administration

  • Just posted else where - still getting used to the site

After recently paying £500.00 cash for a wedding at the Royal Hotel, Hull in September I wondered what the chance are f a refund
I assume when a hotel goes into administration the contract we have with them (which if we cancelled more that 112 days suggests that we would get a refund) is pretty useless.
  • hi im new to this so please bear with me.

our wedding is at the southcrest hotel in redditch on valentines day this year! (3 weeks today) this hotel is part of the real hotel group. the administrators have told us that in there eyes its going ahead but cannot promise anything! its too late for us to book else where so we have to wait and see.
hope things go well for you, but better to make a plan b incase things dont go your way.

Only an opinion loopylou but it takes a fair amount of time to wind up a business/try and find a buyer, especially when its main value is a business(as opposed to its stock) so i recon 3 weeks is pretty certain to stay open.

I agree with pasturesnew about hotels being a rip off, i go away with work quite a bit and frankly the rooms are a total rip off, they cost the same as a posh managed apartment with all the goodies like wifi, playstations, fully furnished kitchen etc.

Also in a hotel room you get woken up by people wandering about outside and are basicly living in a bedsit, fine for a night but not if you are staying much longer.
what websites do u use for booking these managed apartments, what is the usual minimum term they expect for stay. i have visited people staying at managed apartments in london. they were better specked than good hotels. but it was a company longterm lease and my friend got it for free so i dont know how much they cost. would be interested in using them though if prices comparable to hotels as found them spacious and might be better when travelling with small children

I was going to make a posting about hotels that are a sort of half way house
between the large chains and the serviced apartment

They are financed by selling off rooms & individual suites to investors. This financing model probably encourages discounting to obtain high occupancy. I believe there is one such opposite the House of Commons at the other end of Westminster bridge.

I stayed in a hotel similarly financed at a very reasonable price BUT the model has
proved brittle in the credit crunch:eek:
