Scottish Power
In dispute with SP due to receiving 2 bills for the same amount of £264.52 with readings of 22203C and 22850E - how can the bills be the same to exact penny? I can't get an answer from SP as they kept deducting UNauthorised DD's from my account 3 times and I've got it back under the DD Guarantee and they say this is the problem - is there anywhere to send bills to be looked at as it's beyond me. Also reporting them to the Bank of England re DD's - if someone unlike me didn't check their bank account every day what a mess they would be in. Anyone else had a problem? Of course it's now been passed to debt collection who asked me to phone back on 0871 number and when I queried that this cost 10p a min said no it was local rate.

I am not saying this has any relevance but just trying to get a picture overall. Did you give them the correct reading after they estimated one and billed you.
And have you worked out what your bill should roughly be with the correct reading and rate given.
I have had a few problems with them recently over telling me one thing an writing something totally different. After speaking to the last operator i asked how to make a complaint and was forwarded to customer care who were very helpful. Might be worth a shot trying the same.
All the operators i found previously seemed to be singing from different sheets. It reached the stage where I had no confidence in them.It sounds almost as if you have 2 accounts running -2 bills and 2 lots of payments.0 -

Good luck! ... maybe Mervyn will investigate matters personally for you
Well he seems to have all but 2 days of every month free - I'm sure he'll be pleased to have his boredom relieved by such investigative financial problems"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -

Sounds like you need to escalate the problem higher go through to customer care i found them very helpful.
Have you tried working out what you think your bill should be . Only one of those bills will obviously be that amount but which one you need to know.
You could ask them to rebill you with the corrected reading too. good luck0 -
DONT USE SCOTTISH POWER!
I'm pretty sure Scottish Power just pick random amounts and bill you. They neglected to bill me twice from when I moved into my current house (I didn't notice cos I set up a DD and assumed everything was ok - I know... I know... IDIOT!) and then my first gas bill with them was over £2400.00. No, not a typo, that's TWO THOUSAND POUNDS!
They're taking it at £15 a week from a pre payment meter now as I am disputing it. Apparently, I used over a grand's worth of gas a quarter... I'm not supplying the neighbours gas either, I checked.
They actually asked me if I had a small factory on the side of my house as my bill couldn't possibly be right... And yet still threatened legal action if I didn't pay.
It gets better, shortly before they installed my pre payment meter, I recieved a letter stating that my bill of £12,418.84 will be charged from my new meter at £15.00 a week and I will have cleared my debt by late September 2024. I was told by them to "ignore" this letter as it was obviously a mistake. I asked for written confirmation of that, but 3 months later, nothing's arrived. Looks like I'll have to wait a few years to find out if they're taking the 12 grand or my original £2400.

You need to contact them as soon as possible, their customer services / complaint number is: 0845 2700 700. As far as I know that number should be cheaper.
Not sure why your receiving two bills for the same value unless one is a reminder should say at the top of the bill.0 -

Two bills for the same amount with the same readings and for the same account. Could it just be the same bill twice? I'd always expect two bills with the same reads for the same length of time to be exactly the same.
Do you dispute the gas has been used? Do you dispute the cost of the gas? Have you made any payments for what you think is right?0 -
looks like the 22203C is a customer reading and 22850E is estimated.
Just a thought, on each of the bills do they have the same start reading (reading last time or worded similarly). What I mean is (not with SP so don't know exactly what their bill looks like, but going by mine) surely on the bill the sums are worked out, present reading minus previous reading equals no of units used times cost per unit?
Can you compare these bills and see what might be different to make the end result the same?

Sounds like one bill is estimated, then corrected by a customer reading. The customer reading bill should replace the estimated bill.0
